  1. I use a clear plastic bag, cut a few holes in the bottom of it, attach it to the side of the tank with clothes pegs and then fill up the bag with water. This is for my 20 litre tank though so might be a pain for a larger tank. Actually I got this idea from one of Zev's posts about setting up a killie tank...

Cool. Glad to see they've gone to a good home
  3. aka angelicus loach I just got some of these too - they're very cool
  4. I think I would get a lot more done if I didn't have the internet :-?
  5. That's reassuring They were only small but it still gave me a fright when I found these things stuck on my hands after doing some slime removal in the pond. I once stayed with friends in Queensland and the guy we were staying with found a leech stuck on his leg several hours after going for a bush walk - yuck.
  6. I'm pretty sure I've got leeches in one of my ponds... they creep me out!
  7. Yes - when I went back a few hours later after taking the photo it had already shriveled up!
  8. I'm really sorry to hear about Bud, Caryl. I wish there was something we could do!
  9. haha... I thought you might be talking about a stick insect. Last weekend I went on a walk in the Coromandel and there were heaps of green stick insects around.... including some that had been accidentally stood on
  10. Just wanted to share this photo from my pond. I think it's quite a cool flower. I bought the plant as banana plant but it looks like it's definitely Nymphoides indica based on the flower. I'm growing this in a tank indoors as well but it's a bit of a pain due to its floating leaves. So it's much easier having it outdoors. I've been putting cuttings of all my aquarium plants out in the ponds to see how they grow. I'm kind of running out of room in my tanks
  11. I saw this one at the weekend. I'm not a big pleco fan but he's awesome!
  12. cute that snail on the glass looks as big as him almost
  13. yeah the tail pic cracked me up especially. Her name is Cody. it's kind of a dumb name as everyone thinks she's a boy which for some silly reason I get annoyed about! it's definitely not cold up here - it's warm and humid. yuck! Thanks re the plants Phoenix. Unfortunately they have BBA on them but I've recently started dosing excel so I hope that will help.
  14. Not usually.... does yours?
  15. My cat usually ignores my fish tanks, but tonight she decided to drink out of one of them while I had the lid off. I think the guppies thought they were going to get fed.
  16. Any mountain biking places near Palmy that I could use to coerce the bf into visiting? Not that I need any more plants.... I have waaayyyy too many
  17. Nice! That makes me want to come visit the shop
  18. I'd say it's a cherry barb. They're cool fish. The males are bright red when mature. This one looks like a female.

    Apistogrammas

This link has some awesome pics of Apistogramma viejita, and a cool pleco: http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/tank-journals-photo-album/100137-amazon-biotope-lnumber-aphisto-tank-not.html I really like apistogrammas but haven't had much luck with dwarf cichlids I had a male A. cockatoo who only lived for a year or so.
