I can't imagine neons eating baby BNs. BNs are pretty good at hiding. +1 vote for a photo update!

What kind of algae is it Sam? I have some lovely hair algae in my 4 foot tank at the moment. I should probably do a tank blackout but I don't think I could handle not looking at my tank for 3 days!

I thought they were otos too, from the photo. Baby BNs are still very cool though!

Hi Twinkles, do you mean the perspex cover? If so, one of the ends has two black plastic screws. If you turn these round slightly then the black cover lifts up, you slide out the perspex and you can access the lights. If this doesn't make sense I can try to explain it better or take photos to explain

Actually mine have been fine with plants and they haven't uprooted them at all. I have gravel in my tank rather than sand.

Yeah I hope these ones turn out to be good parents... I'd love to have some of the fry survive. I didn't have much luck with the dwarf flag cichlid fry I had last year

I've just been cleaning out my 3 foot tank as it had got really overgrown, and discovered a cloud of firemouth fry. :bounce: I'm really excited as I wasn't even sure if I had a pair; in fact I assumed they weren't since the larger firemouth always picks on the smaller one. Should I take the dad out of the tank or just leave them to it? Mum seems to be doing a good job so far - very fiesty! The other fish in the tank are platies, guppies and one bristlenose - I assume the firemouths will be able to protect the fry from these?

Hi Twinkles, They have them at Hollywood Fish Farm Mt Roskill. I think I saw one at Mt Eden Animates but I might have been mistaken :oops:

Wow, that's a good score from a bunch of plants! I'd be stoked if I got that kind of hitch-hiker. Furcatus rainbows are really cool; I've been eyeing them up at the LFS but I don't have room in my tanks at the moment

Nice fish darkfur! They look cool but I'm not even brave enough to try normal blue rams due to their delicate reputation.
