    Jumping Neon

They're in a 130L tank with quite a few other fish but seem to be doing okay so far. The female is a dark black/purple colour and keeps chasing away other fish that come too close (without injuring them as far as I can tell) Do you have pics of yours Afrikan?

    Jumping Neon

Hehe I have to say, dried up fish look very sad! They're actually in different tanks. The neons are in with an apistogramma, BN and gourami. I've had a neon jump out before so maybe it did really have a death wish. The dwarf flag cichlids are in a slightly bigger tank with a mix of fish. They are cool fish. Much better colours than in the fish shop. I've only had them for about a month so I'm stoked they bred so soon. Any idea how to look after the fry? Or do I just leave the parents to it? I have some photos but they're not very good

    Jumping Neon

Hi. I got up this morning and was tidying up the kitchen bench, picked something up and it was a dried-up neon tetra. I feel so bad for not noticing it had jumped out of the tank On the plus side, on Wednesday I found out that the reason my dwarf flag cichlids had been terrorising the other tank mates was that they had some tiny babies they were protecting. So exciting - my first cichlid fry!
  4. just wanted to say - I really like your tank setup. I want mine to look like that!
  5. You could get another small tank for the danios  I'm on my 3rd tank and I'm still checking out the auction site daily for more tanks
  6. Yeah, I have neons and glowlights together too and they look great. Mine are about the same size and I like how they are exactly the same shape but different colours. So that's my recommendation
  7. Thanks DKC I had him for only one month. I bought 2 but the other one died soon after I got them. How do you tell if you have high oxygen levels? I assume since the other fish don't gasp at the surface that oxygen is okay. I didn't give extra food since the guy at the shop said his one ignored the extra food he gave it. Maybe I should have, but the otto didn't look too skinny. I'm going to try a GBA now but maybe I'll try ottos again in the future as they're such cool fish. Sarah
  8. Actually don't worry - it was dead by the time I got home anyway.... I might have been a bit ambitious trying to keep ottos - from searching the net they sound pretty hard to keep. Have other people found that?
  9. Hi, This morning I noticed my Otto has something that looks like white fungus by one of his fins. How can I treat this? I have some Furan-2 - can that be used for fungus on Ottos?
  10. A 50L and 120L at the moment, and I just bought another small one on the auction site I still want another one though - would love a 4-foot tank so I can get some geos and a severum. Trying to convince my boyfriend to give me his old 250L tank but he thinks I've got enough! :-?
  11. I got into fish because my boyfriend has a fish tank and after going along to the fish shop with him I got hooked. Now he complains that I talk too much about fish and the fact I'm constantly wanting to buy more fish and tanks!
  12. I just saw my first baby platy today - but it got eaten straight away by my apistogramma I've now shifted the mum platy to another tank, but there's some small gold gourami in there. Are gourami likely to eat the babies too?
  13. What do the offspring of plain BN and GBA look like?

    A free tank?

Hi. Your tank looks great. Are those mirrors above the tank in the first picture? They look cool
  15. I had a cloudy tank and was quite worried.... but it got better once I removed the courgette I'd had in there a few days for the bristlenose

    Crazy cockatoo

No, he hasn't got a female unfortunately. Would like to get one for him one day. But he's stopped chasing round the other fish now, which is good.

    Crazy cockatoo

I just got a couple of platys for my newly cycled tank, however now my male apistogramma cockatoo is following the male platy around, displaying and has started chasing the neons as well. Is this normal?
  18. I've just got a male Cockatoo. He's really cool. I feed him bloodworms by hand as otherwise the tetra eat them all. I don't suppose anyone has female cockatoos for sale? Would be nice to get him a friend.
