Hi guys, one of our swords has been giving birth for the last couple hours, heres a few shots of the action.. Mum just before the birth.. Look close and you can see the fry coming out.. Pop!.. These are all between 10 mins and 2 hrs old, from above.. Same again, side on.. Looks like she's still going, think we've got about 30 so far.. Lee

I have noticed that two of my younge fry have what looks like their tails chomped at. Will they grow back or are they gonners?? I am not 100% sure if their tails have been attacked as they don't have any colours in them yet. They are lucky to be 3-4 weeks old or is this when their tails will change to other forms? Totaly lost!

My female guppies from my first drop (easter weekend) seem to have real good black birthing spots. But I was wondering at what age will they actualy have babies? Since they are smaller than my mature females would their fry be extra small also??

I am having the hardest time telling wich of my 6 females are dropping the babbies. I can narrow it down by half as I have 3 black and 3 blond females. If the babies are light I assume it's one of the blonds and if they are dark I assume they are one of the blacks. I have caught one of the blonds once having babbies, it was pure dumb luck. I was just looking at her and *pop* out comes a babby. Unfortunatly I never took specific notice of wich one it was and out of the 3 blonds there's only one that's very different from the others. I have heard that some of the females drop the bottom of there tails but I've never seen any of mine do this. I know WHEN babies are d…

Hi My big female swordtail dropped her fry last night , i'd put her in a large breeding net and put in a lot of java moss and floating plants so the fry could hide , i'm not sure how many she did eat but this morning when i check there was heaps !!, i've tried taking photo's but can't get a really clear one of all the breeding net but i can count just over 130 in one of the pictures and that shot does not even show the whole net. She is a large female and her last drop was about 60+ makes my eyes go all crossed trying to count them

OK 99% of my guppy fry have turned out female.......I am ready to give/sell most of them. I don't know which one to keep though, 1/2 have no colouration or markings; the other 1/2 have little black marks on their tail, some identicle, some slightly different. So, should I keep the non-coloured ones or the ones with slight markings? I am still on the lookout for a worthwhile male, to start breeding with.

Hi guys, was just wondering if you can help us here. We currently have 3 sword females, one is just a wee girl but we are keen on your thoughts as to whether either of these 2 are pregnant, as we've never seen one that is so we're not sure. Also, does the orange one look like a full swordtail female? She's older than the grey, but very full in the tummy. If she's not pregnant does she look a normal shape? We are fairly new to tropical fish, so just want to make sure everythings as it should be. Cheers lee

Hiya! Has anyone else noticed the trend on trademe for people to sell platies as mollies? I've seen this quite a few times now!!! I think someone on the forum bought a whole batch of baby mollies, then I saw the same seller with adult mollies that looked terribly much like palties. Are petshops misrepresenting them? Or is the a kind of platy-like red wag tail molly? (If there is that'd be a kinda cool colour ;-) Your thoughts? Helene
