Does anybody know how long it take for the gravid spot of a virgin female guppy to darken after mating? (In other words how long until I know if the Female Albino guppy I have in the breeding tank is fertile or not?) Yes I know, it's been little over a week, I should just wait.

YAY I went into the pet store today as I was wanting to get more half blacks if they had managed to get imports. To my supprise there was an albino male in there. My question is, if my albino male was to mate with a normal female what are my chances of getting more albinos? They didn't have any females to go with him but was told that my chances were high to get more albinos by just having a male. So the tank that was set up for my solid half blacks is now for the albino and I have put in 4 golden females. I shall let you know over the next few months what happens sooo excited YAY cheers

Just wondering how long roughly till my swordtail drops all her babies....she had 6 3 days ago, and was still really fat and today has been hiding at the bottom of the tank behind a plant nearly all day. Can't see any more babies yet but I don't want to stress her out by looking around in there for more to move them into breeding net with the others. Thankies in advance

We were doing a big clean out of the community tank the other day, when we discovered a very tiny baby all by itself. Im sure it's a swortail, we recently purchased 1 male and three females - all females extremely fat now so I am hoping for more. The baby is in its own tank now and doing just fine, growing very fast. I suspect that any siblings it had probably got eaten. Should I move the fattest female into the little tank to give birth, and if I do will she eat the baby.

Normaly I manage to catch the female before she drops so I put her in the breeding trap then transfer the fry over to the fry tank. If there are any females that have babies during the night and I miss them well thats just hard cheese I guess lol but when I get the other tanks I will just have one thank as a MISC tank. All the ones that I am seperating are the solid half blacks, albinos, snakeskins and a grow out tan…

I would like to know the low down on importing guppies. I have seen many sites that show guppies for sale but how would I get them to NZ? I am not looking at a huge bulk look but just some for myself. Any information on this would be greatful. Cheers

I am looking to purchase some BLUE guppies for breeding, preferably a breeding trio. Currently have light blue guppies but the strain appears to be quite weak, as yellows constantly come up trumps. Also just curious if anyone is breeding Blue Moscow Guppies or similar in NZ?

Cn some one tell me how i would know if i have Xiphophorus variatus - Variatus platy OR Xiphophorus maculatus - Platy. i am not refering to any particular fish of mine i am just wondering what the main difference is. There must be something different between them both for there to be a name for each right?
