Hey Alan that is what we did. We removed the whole end and side, applied silicon to the crack and and clamped together. We then applied the patch and also clamped that into place to remove the air bubbles. We have had it full for almost 1 week now with no nasty supprises. I have been checking the cracks and patches with a bright torch for any leaks so far there has been none.

She is still waiting, no sign of the prince. I will be having little skeletons on skateboards and surfboards as the dwarfs. The tank is now half full and we are leaving it as that for a few days then filling it up over another week.

Clown loaches are the answer to get rid of them. We had a swarm of snails in one of our tanks, so we moved the Clown Loaches over to the infested tank, and with in 3-5days all was left was empty shells. Gotta love the Loaches, But be carefull if you get them as they are very seceptable to white spot, so quarantine them first if you are able.

Cheapest filter is a Corner filter full of filter wool, I agree with the filter wool for algae to clean tanks. it is also good for picking up micro organisms that are harmfull in tanks also a bit of Carbon in tanks does SOMETIMES help, but not always. The hair will be totally siliconed none will be touching the water. The leds wont be very bright, just enough to dim light skull and eyes.

Creepy, Freeky, Different. Thats what I like, I dont like standard tanks, or heavily planted tanks. The only place I will be placing plants is up the end with the cracks and a few down the other end, as well as a few caves either end for the Elephantnose fish to hide in. And maybe a bit of driftwood for the Bristlenose Cats. In the long run I will also be adding Red LEDS with flasher unit to the eyes of the skelleton I have seen this done and it looks awsome. I am also considering an undergravel filter not so much to clean the tank but help clean the gravel for me. I will be using 3mm Gravel from my local Landcapers.

Is your tank well airated with some current in it??? As lack of airation can cause algae in tanks. here is a algae that could be it, I have taken this information from the site below: Green water: A true unicellular algae. Also tends to show up during the earlier setup stages of a planted aquarium. Also called "green-water", it is a bloom that occurs quickly and takes over the aquarium. Cannot be easily controlled with water changes, you must reduce the source of micro nutrients that tends to feed the bloom for long term low-tech control. For immediate impact, try UV sterilizers that prevent the bloom in the first place (keep in mind, UV sterilizers will also oxidize trace elements in the water and render them unusable to plants). Micron filter cartridges or diatom filters can also remove the immediate haze. An excellent quick solution to your green water woes is Barley straw extract. We can attest to the fact it eliminates green water in just 2 days. I agree with melafix, it is an excellent product and a natural remidy as well, It is a multi cure that will fix most problems with ease. It can also be used with Pimafix for a full range remidy. Hey all. I have just recieved a tank of a friend that had 2 large cracks, one up the end and one up the back of the tank. We have fixed these cracks by applying 2 sheets of glass over the area with nearly 2 tubs and a half of silicon. We have filled the tank to the top and left it outside for about 3days without the centre brace and about 2 days with the brace with no signs of re-braking, warping or leaking. Tank/?sc=6 I am debating if I will build a sump or use standard power heads. As the tank will be situated in our bedroom, and the noice factor is in consideration. The tank is going to have live plants (unsure what ones) and some fakes, as well as a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs theme, with a skelleton in a glass coffin and a sign above it saying "STILL WAITING" and some Black Barbie hair siliconed in the coffin. It will have a little Cottage beside it with some little figurines, and some head stones made from slate around the tank. I still have to make the coffin, I will be putting some silicon on the top edge of the coffin and rounding it off to reduce the chance of any fish cutting themselves. The swimmers in the tank are going to be: My 2 new Elephantnose Fish (Gnathonemus petersii), (As the Reapers) 3 Red Forest Jewels (If my two in the Hospital survive), One adult Female Convict and some baby convicts (about 1-2cms long), I have 2 Females she is the weaker of the two for having babies, Some Sailfin Mollys, One Rainbow Shark (7cms), Two Pakistani (YOYO) Loaches, About six Little Bristlenose catfish (3-5cms) and one adult male BN. Hand full of Tiger Barbs, Hand full of Albino Widow Tetras And maybe some neons not sure yet. I wont have the tank going for atleast 1month or more yet, just letting the silicon cure a bit more before we use the tank, although we know it wont leak or break. If anyone can give me some ideas on some plants that look like it would suit a grave yard style tank, it will be appreciated, (no technical names please, just common names). And any other types of fish that will also suit. I will update my Photobucket with more pics as the tank progresses.

I have had mine in with Widow Tetras, Gouramis, Mollies, and other fish, and still not had a problem, I also have a Featherfin Catfish (Synodontis Eupteros) and they dont have a chance at getting to his fins as he will eat them if they get to close. Keep them in a group of 6 or more and they will be fine.

Yep thats a nice price tag for 50 zebras. You are unable to quarantine Imported plecos yourself if I can remember correctly, MAF will have to kep them for atleast 1 week, then you still are not aloud to sell them for I think 1 month, this is going back awile now so it may have changed.

You still have to be licenced to import, they can give you the fees for transport and thats about all, Friends of mine have been looking to import from NZ and other countries and decided not to, because of the rules and regulations, plus as they said above it is all bulk you can not import individual fish. I would do as they say above and sit down with MAF I am not sure if they are the same as our AQIS (AUSTRALIAN QUARANTINE AND INSPECTION SERVICE) over here or not? but they can be extreamly harsh to new importers. Hello I dont know what the guy was talking about when he said that Clear PVC would discolor when exposed to too much light :lol: How much light does he think a fish tank puts out, unless you are having this outside in the direct sunlight :lol: I dont think you are??? The PVC pipe will out last the tank before the Tank light or sunlight will kill the PVC What a joke. :lol: :lol: :lol: I worked in Aquaculture breeding Red Claw Crayfish for local Markets etc, using Clear PVC under water for the red claw to hide in and I know for sure that it will not discolour in less then 10+ years if is cleaned properly. You can go to the local plumbers and get elbows and pipes with threaded ends for about $20 the lot, stick it all together, invert it, fill it with water, and cap the ends. You can put a breather nipple on top so you can suck and air bubbles out but total price would be about $50-$100 with the clear PVC, fittings, with the parts to attach the tubes to the tank. You can clean the lot using pipe cleaners straight up under the water so you dont even have to take it apart, except for a major clean maybe once every six months or more. The best way to entice the Clown loaches up to the pipe would be to place a rocks or ornaments below the pipe with a little cave on top that way they will swim upto the top of the rock or ornament and hopefully swim up the pipes. Just take away any other hiding spot for them so they have to go up there.

Have you put in any foreign matter eg. weed or rocks, from any lakes, rivers, or any body of water since you started the tank??? it is the only thing we (myself and partner) can think of??? We have noticed something similar on top of our sponge filter now aswell, it is not harming any of our fish.
