  1. there's THOUSANDS of full moons out there... they're called DISCUS!
  2. it's probably his bodyslime ...meth blue will help get it back on. you prolly don't wanna try another med but i had a fighter years ago with an inflamed gill; it was sticking out and he ended up doing 'death circles'. a dap of formalin right in there completely fixed him. goodluck and yea go the acriflavin
  3. THAT is sweet. i'm on dial up 8) :-?
  4. exactly to say it's all about being a celebrity is a sweeping generalisation.. Obama is clearly very intelligent proven by his accomplishments so far. the thought did strike me tonight that with mccain being 72 a lot of people would see him as an older politician like george bush so that possibly swung people away from him due to george's terrible rep. also another way to think of it is an apt question by david letterman to bill clinton recently on the late show "who would want the job of being president now?!" (referring to the recession). clinton replied it would be an honour.. but still good point ay? obama will be good, he's fresh and he's got the younger voters on board. goodluck to him and let's see what happens
  5. pity..you nearly had a free lawn mower. the theory is that angels can survive with a particular type of worms fine but they give these to discus who cannot handle them.

    live food time!

the latter is because of the former! yes daphnia also thrive on old fruit remains. and a true little 'FYI', if you've just eaten a banana, you are 3x more likely to get bitten by a mosquito :-? never had a problem feeding mossie larvae for years either, but i always rinse it first.. the chlorine in tap water will help rid any nasties
  7. i actually found my fish never went for them either, and i heard something about them possibly getting worms off them (as in fish contracting worms via the freezedried worms?) tho this could be hearsay. an easy way to feed out normal bloodworms is put them on a paper towel. as they melt the towel soaks up the nutrient laden liquid. and ps that was nice of you to send them all around
  8. jingies! great looking fish tho, very stellar
  9. oh no! this is excruciatingly sad. it appears things got on top of him and he saw no way out with the loose ends that he had. clearly in his posts he had issues going on and it's a pity we couldn't have been more constructive to help him through. though i know this is always a reaction to events like this. it is a real shame he couldn't work through it as he indicated he was trying to in his recent posts. at least now finally he can heal on the other side. he had good technical knowledge and i was impressed at how he'd set up his fishroom. he also made high cost fish such as cardinal and rummynose tetras more accessible to people despite the critics.
  10. the fish watched closely, waiting, as grant made his way precariously across the flimsy ladder, hoping, watching, for a misjudgement in his movements, and always with one eye on the heron watching them equally as closely. And such was the complicated nature of the food chain.
  11. I used to have 2 in a 300L discus display tank (70cm high) they looked awesome and hung out on the floating piece of driftwood i had. get them!
  12. hmm could help or it could be dropsy.. monitor closely unless they've just had a fight
  13. both gorgeous fish love the black!
  14. your baby??? i could sell you a couple but i'd have to post
  15. dang sorry to hear! i haven't kept GBAs before but a bloat cure is 1Tbsp/10G (36L) of epsom salt to the water.. i assume you could use this as a treatment for these fish also
  16. yeah great fish! they do seem very intelligent and they can look great when big too with their colours. more in a subtle way than a bright way though. so 2 can go together? what bout 3 or 4?
  17. spring's awesome summer's coming stop ya whining. longer days, you can actually tan, you can go to the beach on a good day, you can buy flixonaise nasal spray for hayfever! that is what i do! problem........solution...! i even had a radio controlled plane! there's still windless days! yaaaaaay ps you're gonna go through about 75+ springs along with the other seasons so you prolly wanna get used to it
  18. epic endeavour! good to see it looks like the unevenness is sorted that was a huge stress for you for a long time. also on behalf of all tetras please suss out the situation as it's not nice to go through a filter or be stuck in a sump ps cool shot with the sev in there
  19. if there are no other fish in the new bigger tank lower the pH a bit yes you can use peat i find that the best way or for more longterm driftwood can work but peat is a surefire way to do it quickly. or transfer water from old tank to new tank. luckily for you it is much better to go from low pH to high pH... if it's the other way around the acid can burn and stress the fish = death. after they've adjusted don't mess with the pH just keep it as steady as possible and yes barebottom is ideal and 50% water changes daily.. tho they can be fine with 25% per week but the more the better. oh yeah just as a last point in the wild they're in 4-5 pH possibly lower so naturally they like it more acidic as most south american fish do. hope this helps
  20. haha my bros recently graduated from vet school certainly not an easy 5 years and hard to get into at all!
