  1. mm gutted but least you know you got a pair
  2. TOTALLY AGREE!! no you are dead right paul..........you DO NOT indicate right entering a round-a-bout, cos...... DUHHHHHH...that's what people do who are TURNING RIGHT! so all of the on-coming traffic thinks you are, slows down, stops, then has to start moving again...only to see some turkey carrying on straight ahead! these morons are costing people expensive petrol! i always give a friendly wave if someone indicates left off the round-a-bout as i'm approaching as i know i can carry on; especially useful when you have a manual car. kerry woodham recentlyish discussed this on talkback radio and when a guy rung up to tell her the actual ruling (as described above) she quickly cut him off. sigh.
  3. should be fine mate, but just watch some female bettas can be quite aggro. do you breed discus??
  4. haha nice hey i'm tryin to get in touch with malawiman anyone seen him lately? sent a pm a while back
  5. thanks Aquatopia yea it was one of my favourites. also thanks for the info DAuckland about how you get create a white butterfly i had wondered that before. you know dave+amy they're imported hormone-free so you can breed them straight away ay? *wink wink* :bounce:
  6. yup alanmin's bang on. green water when they are free-swimming is a big help too. and yea use cover glass
  7. beautiful fish! just look at how round!! yummmmy definitely have a soft spot for white butterflies. this was my one i had a few years back
  8. actually it appears you said the opposite..
  9. lol gannet even after 6months they'd be tiny as aye. unless there was daily brine shrimp going in. but his mum was prolly forgettin to feed 'em half the time anyway
  10. lol! well done matey!! i remember moving from livebearer breeding to eggs too and at the time it seems like a really big step, fun to succeed tho aye!? i can imagine these would be tiny fish as the adults are pretty small too oh yea ps when you siphon the water get one of those soft white mesh nets and put that around the tank siphoning end.....that way the fry won't get sucked up

    Petshop rant

isn't that amazing??...... "they're not dead"...... and "they're not sick"..... it's like..... ummmmmm ...where to even start with that?!!! complete ignorance and arrogance. one time i was in a petshop here in tga and i saw their prize discus display tank had the water level below the air-driven sponge filters.......and ALL of the very nice fish incl heaps of cardinals, rummynose, glowlight tetras, and of course discus were gulping at the top. i informed one of the guys there.. his immediate reaction was "they're fine".... so i insisted and said no you can see there's not enough water it's not working. suddenly he realised and just took off out the back presumably to get water. no apology or thank you. only takes a bit of common sense ay???

well.......to look at this objectively, the reason the staff try to answer the question off the top of their head is because they're scared they'll look stupid by not knowing or by going and checking; and they feel they should know. i'm sure we can appreciate this as some customers would likely roll their eyes. tho of course we know it is much better to have the correct information and have them check. and then there's the people who don't know but "believe" they do; they are the most humorous. the classic "know alls". bless them and yea i wouldn't worry about a bit of LFS water?? some water will transfer with the fish anyway..?
  13. so what happened? in what section? gotta love some people's love of melancholy melodrama. no offence helpful barrie but it's "appears".. see this forum is great.. even in this thread i can help you with english lol :bounce:
  14. yeah put some sort of mesh over the eggs to protect them and once they're actually wriggling the parents might finally 'get it' goodluck matey what sort of discus are they?? pics?? :bounce:
  15. Important: if you use copper sulphate remove you clown loaches first. Only way i've found to get rid of them is haul everything outta the tank, treat for at least 10mins in potassium permanganate (oxidiser)..it should be a light/medium purple colour, not dark purple. Basically just start again
  16. live but yea get some strong light or low light + hardy plants eg java fern
  17. sick....... i seriously want to set up a flash car with visible sounds/goods inside and leave it somewhere obvious...... and when it's crunch time switch on huge flood lights, snapping canon cameras at 5shots a second, firing paintball guns at a similar speed, then give them a little talking to about respecting "other" people's (not theirs) property. other ideas?? :bounce:
  18. Agreed! there is definitely bad energy left when a criminal has been inside your personal space. insurance often doesn't cover stereos too as it's "part of the car"... huh?! so it's often lose-lose for the victim (ie paying insurance and then not getting it and losing what the thieves take). pity you didn't catch them in the act the second time. i often wonder how people don't hear the window smash? i guess they put a blanket over it and then smash it???
  19. haha can you make coffee and water change the tank too?
  20. prolly got told by some LFS attendant that was how you sex them lol.. as far as i know.. absolutely no way to tell. and btw, yes they have bred in captivity... http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/p ... ?news=1429 i have heard a whisper that the age of the clown loach is more important than the size when it comes to breeding. as the article mentions they were 4 or 5 years old, and also very large.
