you could probably get tubes cheaper from a lighting wholsaler (not a retail place like lighting direct) in regards to lites fitting the jewel tank there are different types of t5 tube a domestic t5(a cheap 1) is a lower wattage aquariums using t5s normally use t5VHO tubes(VHO standing for Very High Output) . im not sure but you may find the cheaper tubes dont fit to save people from putting a normal bulb into a VHO fitting

its fun but i reckon a more realistic 1 with real fish would be cooler

use an aquarium heater u will probably find it will hardy be on at all as most of our days have been warm so far , maybe cover it with a sheet of polystyrene at night that will help

nearly all of the smartdrive and gw52 etc are 12v some other brands have 240v, i would bother with a solenoid from a 380 or 400 who knows how old those things are if some smart drives are 10 yrs old now!

all of ur washing machine 1s are normally closed and a good 1 can stand mains pressure . a 3/4 inch fitting on 1 side makes plumbing easier the other side (out) is about 10mm(outside diameter) tubing. most recycling centers will take old washing machines regardless of condition(can be scrapped for metal) but be aware if you buy a broken down 1 a lot of the time the solenoids are part of the problem.

i have a lot of guppies pretty much all of them have a red-orange showtail and blue-black iridescent body (3 or 4 generations of males) all of a sudden i noticed 1 that is differnt to the rest (probably 4th genereation) he has a yellow and red tail and a lite blue iridescent body so far (still quite young) he also has paterns on him like snakeskin guppies however not on his tail yet. im wanting to know 1st where did he come from i.e is he just a chance mutation or a product of in breeding and how i get more like him , i have a virgin female in another tank she would be 4th generation also but from which parent s i have no idea am i likely to get ane results from her or am i better selecting a female with an interesting colour tail or a lot of colour , so even if i dont get more like the male i still get something cool? possibly if some1 could explain to me what to try and achieve with guppies and methods of doing it as im sure they can be more fun than just a community fish taht breeds like rabbits!

some types of snail eggs could almost meet that criteria , are they in clusters or 5 or more almost touching?

thank you guys that does help wasnt really serious about breeding them as i thort i had 2 females mite try give it a go now tho , varanophile i remeber you saying male +female+ well fed+ tadpoles or something along those lines ane other hints to make them start it again ? i have airline tubing drilled every 2cms wired to the top this is attached to a powerhead so it drips out like rain would a heater set to something low help?

im thinking the holes near the outlet are for a heater but it wouldnt matter

if u plan to not use the top filter remove the lid and run the cannister filter thru the holes already there they are a decent size so shouldnt limit ur choice too much

another thing to try when you are having fish problems that may be related to cycling the tank is to only feed them half as much so the toxins dont build up so fast

i did assume both my frogs were female as i never heard them calling up until 2nite after the TT meeting when the skinneier frog was on top of the fatter frog going for it there was some noise involved it apperaed to be coming from the frog underneath . there are no eggs , does ane1 know if the eggs are squezzed out during the mating process or later (they are southern bells) the other scenario is they are both males and the skinny 1 was in the mood for some loving
