  1. This guy is still going!! his condition looks a little better with no treatments or anything... see a little redness by the fin join, and a little white on his gills? how do i reduce those?? what does it mean?
  2. This guy is still going. seems he has lost a 'little' swelling touch wood.looked at him just now and he wasnt as bad as couple days ago where he looked in really bad shape.
  3. This guy has the biggest heart, he has survived well and put some much effort and taken a lot of hits, he is such a fighter.
  4. Ok have finished the treatment, and it hasnt cured the discus, prognosis isn't good. Fish seems more active and normal but its physical appearance is not pleasing at all... Scales have been lost and doesn't seem to be getting replaced. I am considering euthanising it... should i? is the fish in pain? I feel for it and dont want it to live a painful life.
  5. Another update, today will be the 4th day of treatment. noticed a 'slight' reduction in swelling, did notice a lot of black dots on the floor, then pieced it together and its the fishes scales? what does that mean? it seems to be shedding its skin?
  6. Ok now has been 2 days of treatment, fish seem more lively (treating two of them) and majority of the time they are upright. did notice that some of the skin seems to be coming off the dad? flaky white patches? not sure if thats good. have definately noticed a reduction in the swelling of the eye. Thoughts?
  7. Went to Lynfield Vet on Whiteswan road. Fantastic service, and good expertise. Fish is looking much better. Will update tonight when i do a water change.
  8. Went to the vet, had a good look at discus. Good news he said it didnt have dropsy, we did a water test and despite water changes the results weren't good at all. He prescribed 20ml Baythril 4ml for 5 days @ 50% water change in a 25L QT. Its been 1 day, and its made some huge results which is great, more colour and fish seem a little more active. Will report back on more progress.
  9. If you could please share the info that would be great. just hope its not too late I know this fish has some fight in it left, but how much handling is required? im scared to put it through more stress
  10. Thanks for the responses. Sadly i was monitoring the fry on the parents, and definately did look out for signs of stress, this all happened the night i went to bed (they were fine @ 10pm then next morning they were just trying to escape the fry) next morning it had blown up dramatically. I will get onto Furan as you have mentioned. Do you know which vet can prescribe Baytril? will i need to move the fish as i wouldn't like too due to its state.
  11. Its heart breaking, everything happened so quick. Lots of water changes with treated and aged water and i couldnt get anything to subside. correct PH and nitrate levels etc as well. Temps are 30degrees
  12. Ok heres some pics with my phone cam, its pretty bad. i guess you can have a feel for its width, have noticed his stomach get quite big now.... bit worried, case of dropsy? As you can see he lost 1 eye due to the infection, i believe to have originated with all the fry eating at him. Thoughts? Have put epsom salt in the water, temps are 29-30, daily water changes. Have been in quarantine tank for maybe 1 month, mom seems to have healed so may transition her out. Dad has lost confidence and has stayed quite a dark colour in the corner. Have left the cone there so they can hide behind etc.
  13. Thank you, hvae recieved one very good response. Ill document what has happened and what i have done with pictures tonight. Thank you.
  14. Hey guys, couple of my discus have a case of cloudy eye/pop eye. seems to be a recurring one because it happened when they are STILL in the quaranteen tank. Want to know if there is a fish doctor around that can check it out? Or know where i can leave it with them to cure them etc, i work full time and struggle to monitor them during working hours, and its stressing me out! Ive been doing regular water changes with treated water so not really sure whats happening.
  15. have noticed some of the skin is peeling off. is that good or bad? looks like dead skin....
