  1. i used to be a yardie there tell u what hosing out offal bins at 8am after a big nite out will make make the fish factory smell nice so will jumping off the loader and landing knee high in offal lol
  2. ive been making that top recipe(without coconut tho) as long as i can remember i like to swap half the flour for wholemeal flour sometimes gives it a different texture
  3. well this is my bad taste joke for the day u like fish right there is always talleys in mot or nsn , on a seriuos note they will employ ane1 always jobs going 2! (NB greenpeace or union members need not apply) i have to say there ethics on sustainability in the fishing industry are questionable too
  4. post the date and approx time i mite be able to help
  5. ultrsonic foggers can be brought at bunnings most of the time but shop around sometimes you get lamps on trademe for 35 that can be broken to get the fogger bit out , ignore what brand it is buy the cheapest you can find (secondhand not reccomended) as they are all made by 1 company in china aneway i.e exoterra mite be $100 while u mite find a deco one brand for $50 different box identical product
  6. i brought it second hand from a pet shop i think its similar to the aqua1 ones you can get just older they come in sheets of about 40cm sq and u can cut it up how you want it. the branches are willow scrubbed clean off lichen half pie hoping it mite contine to grow and sprout leaves in there as apart from mangrove(very hard to find down here) willow is the only thing i can think of that mite handle some salt as it grows along riverbanks close to the sea
  7. dont think they were meant to be that cheap but the 1st 5 were sold to me at that price so they ended up selling me the rest at that price too which was very good of them there are no more and i dont know if they will be getting anemore they had been in the shop for a while and no 1 noticed them(they are bout 8mm long) some staff didnt even know they were there(mind you they was no label either) i have no idea what they would normally go for ive never seen them before got told the were brackish but would do fine in freshwater wasnt till i got home that i had ane idea what they really were
  8. gutteed will insurance cover this sort of thing?
  9. yes im greedy got a price i couldnt refuse ($2 ea) ane ideas on how to breed them , snail shells and cold water changes like BB gobies , they are eating daph and mozzie larvae the take the odd dried daph and bloodworm and tubifex but definatly prefer the live food
  10. yes like the 1st 4 pictures here http://images.google.co.nz/images?sourc ... a=N&tab=wi
  11. i havent heard mine make ane noise at all (other than netting them to put them in this tank) so im guessing they must be female, mine swim around a fair bit and during the warmer months are very active even if they are not chasing food(1 of our cats will watch them for hours ,she has her own chair in front of the tank, wilson, i think has had his frog (no longer has it) croaking all nite i think his was a golden bell , mine are southern bells. i tried my luck with whistlers didnt have a lot of sucess didint see them very much at all either but dont let that put u off as plenty of other people keep them sucessfully. with the bigger frogs its easy to provide a variety of food as well (not just fruitflies, ants and whiteworms like whistlers) main thing i guess is set up of the tank clean water and places to hide being important also robust plants as they will get trampled
  12. spoon

  14. finally got round to adding some photos of new tanks ive setup new goldfish tank 1x30w t8, ar620 topfilter and fluidised bed filter running off dual outlet 2000lph powerhead tank vol 160l euroveiw 90 still going strong 4x20w t8,cf1200, 2 nutrafin CO2 units tank vol 204l betta tank with new gobies , have 14 gobies thinking they are burmese freshwater bumblebee gobies (rather smaller and more mottled than normal bumblebee gobies ) if ane1 knows more about what they are let me know . new brackish tank in progress(old goldfish tank) 2x20w energysavers(considering 3W LEDs to get the glitter lines happening on the sand), 2 small internals soon to be cf500, 80 or 100l cant remeber has bumblebee gobies and a few mollies atm i really want a fig 8 but am beginning to doubt my abilities to keep 1 alive so am starting to explore other options like rainbowfish agin ane ideas welcome have posted other photos in these other places bettas are here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/spoons ... 35009.html and frogs are here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/2-vt34 ... l?start=15
  15. dont really know a hell of a lot bout them they are living in a divided r338 with the filter drilled out and foam added underneath to reduce turbulence without reducing flow sharing tank with 14 gobies(freshwater burmese gobies?)
  16. here are some photos i took today its a bit of a mess tho mussels in bottom feel free to ask questions about it
  17. what about farming normally plenty jobs in golden bay or up da mot valley
  18. yeah i hadnt quite worked how to use photobucket back then, in the photos i had an ultrasonic fogger but they dont last long a small amount of hardness in the wate will eventually stuff the membrane and they arent cheap to replace other thing is they heat the water a bit. really want to try the moss wall so im going to use a car windscreen washer pump to power so misters at the top and just cycle water thru from the bottom of the tank have it on a timer to mist twice a day
  19. its the biggest 1 its 2ft high by 2ft wide 1.5 ft deep same size as the 1 in that link overseas
  20. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/frog-tank-photos-vt28719.html my tank doesnt look like this ane more as it its and old photo and i have 2 female paradise fish instead of axies in the bottom now. you can handle frogs they dont like it much tho, make sure your hands are wet first or you can damage their skin also wash your hands afterwards as they can carry salmonella. the first pics of the tank on the link the tank has a false floor so there is water under the moss keeping it humid some people keep heaters under there 2 depending on the species a mister is(not ultrasonic) is something id like to make also lover the idea of the moss wall may have to give that a go i already have some java moss creeping up a bit of bogwood out of the water i wish we could keep frog like that here!
  21. even if they were the biggest fish?
  22. have red on a few websites that is possiible to keep rainbowfish in brakish water ane ideas if this is possible and if so which species?
  23. well u are a good option i make make my own rockwork (hope thats not copyrightsed !) from poly and epoxy but i have to admit it is nowhere near as good as urs
  24. maybe make it look natral make polystyrenne rockwork and paint the bath with expoxy and sprinkle sand on it, to make it look like it has a sandy bottom. maybe a pump making a waterfall from a pile of rocks just above it. or ferns and other plants arount the edge
  25. oh yea the animates are in moorhouse ave, towerjunction shopping centre(the 1 dixon mentioned) , and papanui rd, pet world in ferrymead rd may also be worth a look most of the shops will have just got a new shipment in
