  6. :iag: never used CO2, always had good plahtnt growth.... ok never tried some like glosso but the regulars like Dwarf sag work well

  8. every petshop in queensland has hermit crabs for sale, cheap and fun to watch.
  9. hrmmmm, twice today I have been surfing and had a page change to a "warning: Norton antivirus has found critical threats to your system, Clean now???" followed by a page background that shows a Microsoft antivirus warning, all based on a page that ends in a .cz ..... oh, and there is no Norton on this puter seems legit.....
  10. wow.... cunning, selling thrown away plastic bottles for $30 whats next???... Complete plastic Coke bottle shapped aquarium complete with one (slightly bent) angelfish that has magically been converted to cold water???
  11. V12's do better around the 50-55 degree range, V6's are the ones that do well at 90 degrees
  12. ate some once, not that bad really, its the squirmy thats hard to deal with
  13. awesome, it seems you have the bug..... welcome and enjoy. though I must mention that 375 L is a very small tank for all of those species you listed. (except the kribs)
  14. hrmmm.... time to break out the 4cm wide mri scan..... fish House anyone???
  15. tbh imo it looks like just about every silvia out there.... whats the point.... oooh a Unique exhaust, they said that about heart shaped ones years ago. i'd be more impressed by a stock looking silvia with the same amount of $$$ spent on the owners fish tanks....
  16. I use a polybox filled with 5/6 topsoil and 1/6 river sand, feed it a slice of white bread every 3 days..... (currently up to 2 slices every 2 days) sell a few cultures and feed over 50 tanks once per week..... ime white bread makes them breed and luncheon makes them bigger....
  17. lol, what LFS would Guarantee a fishes genetics, thats absolutely ridiculous... 5 years ago a firemouth was Cichlasoma meeki... nowdays there are about 20 different species that came from that initial description, so no LFS with any knowledge would "Guarantee" a fishes genetics.. I will say though, its been a long time since I saw an imported firemouth (someone may correct me) and many that are available tend to have slight fin deformities, best to find one commercially and one privately best chance of mixed genetics. oh and btw if you don't buy the africans from the LFS how do you expect to get new better stock imported????? seriously people in NZ gotta get off their high horses and realise that people in other countries with less restrictive import laws are taking care of the "pure strain" issue, be thankful for what you have and deal with it, most of your "fancy" pure bloods are hybrids anyways.... ok done with my rant....
  18. nice.... so exactly the same price as a regular brand, but 10 x harder to find parts for.......
  19. sounds like the beginnings of the "shimmies" (google it) at 3-4 years old i would assume old age (mollies are actually temperate fish suited to lower temps) or else long term nitrate poisoning... but be happy with the 3-4 years. when you say you treat your tank regularly for parasites what do you mean??? excessive medications can be expensive and pointless as well as doing more harm to your fish than good....
  20. I keep a mirror in my fishroom for when I get bored and a betta annoys me.....
  21. thats what i get from googling and what the importers give to me matches that, the butterflies have more small spots and wider body , the borneo's have larger spots more towards the tail....
  22. all your readings are WAY above rams specs and seriously above anything comfortable for any fish....... pH: 6.0 - 7.0 (for rams anyways, best to have stable pH than exact) Ammonia = 0 (all tanks must be 0)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nitrite= 0 (all tanks must be 0)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nitrate = <20ppm (40 is supposedly the safe level but imo anything over 20ppm will cause long term damage. make sure you check your nitrate regularly, its the slow killer and the only one you will not see effects on your fish from untill its too late.... untill you can see the issue in the fishes eyes :sage:
