  4. hrmmm... I have heard they are identical to the aqua one (maybe even made in the same factory) I know the Atman powerheads are fully interchangeable with the Aqua one models, Aqua one tanks used to (maybe still do) have Atman parts in them vs
  5. we sent them down to you for the winter, might go out and catch a kingi or a snapper now
  6. If your doing just the basics then you can get away with T8's, cheaper initial setup cost, but more expensive long term, T5HOs are a good medium and work extremely well, yet again they have a higher long term cost (replacing bulbs, power useage etc...) LED's are a good choice if you want to spend now save later, make sure you get a good brand though as some cheapies burn out quickly making them a waste of $$$ (just ask Sheepsnana) Metal Halides are good, but expensive both in setup and longterm costs , imo they are a bit out dated now You want to aim to get bulbs high in the red and blue spectrums to promote plant growth and in the green spectrum to make your plants look bright, I use 1-2 x Tropical bulbs (high red and blue) and 1 x sunlight (a little more green) in my lowtech tanks and get good results

  12. hrmmm just had a closer look at that pic, I personally would pull the whole clump out, it may surprise you how much crap is underneath it, possibly causing the algal bloom.
  13. just to let you know the PH down is actually phosphoric acid, so it does give you false high phosphate readings, it is harmless to the fish if used correctly (although you will never get and accurate phosphate reading again) +1 on the pH swings being the killer.
  14. Striata (Zebra) (8-9cm) loaches are great medium sized snail munchers...
