Borneo suckers (Pseudogastromyzon myersii) and butterfly suckers (Beaufortia kweichowensis) are 2 different but similar fish, awesome fun if you have a high current tank

only one year??? I have some in the shop that came in at adult size and are still here one year on, happy an healthy, all my personal ones have lived over 3 years

hydroponics places should stock it. just don't look too shady as it is a good ingredient in making explosives

well said and well worth a look, good trout fishing up at lake McLaren. go for a walk up the mount, theres a nice waterfall up oropi road thats owned by a church of some sort,theres hire jetski's and catamaran yachts at Pilot bay, minden lookout, Plumbers point whar (one of the prettiest fishing spots if you can dodge the weed, blowhole on leisure island good for fishing and a walk, rockpooling around the mount, night fishing off chapel st bridge etc...... our shops are all the same generic crap with a couple of goodies thrown in here and there....

first of all the "motor" is a sealed electromagnet and has no moving parts that could rattle. i would put money on it being the impeller itself, pull it out, make sure all the bits are fine/stuck together properly and the magnet itsef is not cracked. also check the shaft, and stick your finger down the hole to make sure there is no grit or stones in there, also make sure the rubber caps for the impeller are seated properly.

the fluctuations in pH are probably your biggest problem that I can see, anything over around 0.5 of a pH can be seriously stressful to the fish (TBH if it has been fluctuation like that for that long im surprised your fish are still around, I would seriously get another test kit to make sure), also high temps can help your fish recover from the velvet, but for too long it can cause more harm than good. the problem with 0 nitrates is that your fish's waste turns into nitrates, even if you do daily water changes you should still have some sort of reading. btw those strip tests are notoriously bad, I normally recommend throwing them out.

pic 1: - Mares tail (Hippuris Vulgaris) and red hygrophilla possibly (Alternanthera reineckii) also looks like you have some green lud (Ludwigia repens) and some hygrophilla, probably polysperma on the left side looks like dwarf sag in the foreground and imthinking maybe Giant babies tears on the right side. btw the pleco will end up outgrowing your tank and knocking your plants around a fair bit.

im a bit suspicious of any tank with 0 nitrates before a water change unless its more plants than water

sorry, missed this post, that is the one called hokeypokey, waikato gold or waikato colour and imo it is way too pourus, and it has probably been contaminated at some point.

I didn't mean this website, I got up to (at my worst) 76 tanks. now down to 3 and working in the industry so have 55 tropical and around 20 coldwater to care for. scared what I will do when im not working there though..... is there a MTS anonymous??
