Not a hybrid at all!, most likely one has had brown in its heritage and being a dominant gene has shown through. The mottled one is most likely to become brown as all browns start with white patching as your picture depict's.
Got in a fight kicked him down the stairs as he yell's throughout my house dont turn this into a home invasion, chased him out the front door before losing him up the street  Cop's never got him.........
No new tangs will come until the list is amended with the wanted species.
What happened to the list the FNZAS are/was compiling? News?......
Without new species to collect/keep the hobby is destined to end, given there are still allot on the list yet to come in it IS simply a matter of time. Given a handful of highly adaptive fish i cant see why all Tanganyikans aren't importable.
Very little is known about L81 as an adult including its size so i would assume all refference will be to wild populations average or larger of the catch. From my individuals iv found L81 to grow at a rate close to double that of L18 although this may simply be due to L81's more out going behaviour in effect getting more food. Although a faster growth rate generally would indicate a larger adult size.
My Male L177 is much larger than my male L18 although neither is at there supposed maximum size as yet.
I do beleive L81 should be a seperate specie due to its build being much more streamline than that of the other Gold Nuggets and the base colouration being quite different and if the size would be as stated i would find this to be enough to consider it a seperate species.
Iv notice that more and more "variants" are being classified seperate species im deffinately not for it, although from my observation i would find L81 a seperate species not variant so it will be interesting to see what comes of the lacked mention of L81.
L18,LDA60,85 & L177 now to be known as Baryancistrus Xanthellus! :happy1:
