I cant explain that but it should not be the case while Joselimaianus has a larger dorsal than most Loricariidae it shouldnt be any comparison to the true Gibbiceps. Gibbiceps Juvenile Adult Joselimaianus Juvenile Adult A quick Google search reveals quite a few large Dorsal-ed Joselimaianus but from what i sore they are all store bought and with that most likely bred in Singapore where a mix of species are kept in ponds to breed producing hybrids.

GBA was made via hybridizing L144 and line breeding giving the appearance of leucisim, only 1 L144 is know to have been exported and confirmed bred to produce this strain.

The fish in that pic isnt L288 its an adolescent L140 http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/image.php?species=peckoltia+sp(l140)&image_id=10882 , L288 is rather marbled in pattern and imo quite boring to look at http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/_species.php?species_id=1652. This fish could well be a nicely coloured/ patterned L140 another photo or a dentition shot will help.

Iv seen many instances where large fish too cocky try to swallow fish far too large. Like alanmin4304 has said it is simply an experienced understanding of there capability's.
