Since when did this become an argument on the quarantine periods? no one is debating the fact there required, what is a draw back is a need for another system (testing) when there has ever been a problem in the past. Dont fix what isn't broken. Its simply a money making scheme, there should not be a cost associated with this as we are more than aware Incorrectly ID'd fish come in all the time simply lucky none of those have been invasive, or disease carriers etc.

I thought the reasoning behind the ban on goldfish was the possibility of feral populations not disease? TB is not restricted to any one species, hence the reasoning behind imported bred stock. Not to mention vet certification on export. Im yet to know of an outbreak?

Wont be easy to find a mate as there no longer on the importers lists. As for sexing aerial view, head shape, odontodes, girth. Ventrally and the previous will require a sexually mature fish (l47 Baryancistrus 16-18cm) venting will reveal males phallus as elongated to a small degree and blunt while the females genitals will remain short and point almost as if it where V for females U for males. HTH

The fact that the majority are "bred" stock not wild voids most of that. The problem is not just that of water temperature but quality ph, kh, tds etc and all of these would have to be within the temperature requirements only found up north restricting all possibility to a very minute area. Maf is yet to state what makes information "Viable" or correct.
