  1. First set of beetles i had i never once found an egg, so fed out the beetles next thing i knew all of the bran was riddled with young worms.
  2. Any luck with the Cuttlefish?
  3. Iv spent years in pet shops and veterinary clinics, the statement made instigated that they where merely going to run into the bush due to instinct "not" if they sore an animal they would run after it (maybe the statement needed be clearer). These animals don't just become wild they must first become accustomed to it (being left outside or to roam as pleases) read my arguments im not saying they aren't lethal hunters. As Mcculloch said Zone restrictions. Micro-chipping would help, you catch a cat in a reserve has no chip its killed by spca the owner buys a new one, now change it so the cat is found the owner is fined, do you think there going to get another if they don't believe they can contain it?. No it doesn't save the birds or lizards instantly but its going to take time regardless. There will never be a blanket ban of cat's.
  4. What a load! A cat that has never been out of the house is going to take off into the wilderness my rear!. Its like making the statement a hunting dog and a lap dog are the same!. I do not hate humans but i hate them being here!. Native birds and skinks, i just watched as a whole new development in Waitakere got put up where it was native bush so dense you couldn't see the other side, i use to walk my kids through to show them the lizard's when you sat still, its now nothing more than bark chip, cement and dirt, it was full of skinks, wren etc humans killed thousands in one day! in this tiny area, all for profit!, yet cats are the major problem! lol.
  5. Maori Ate the Moa, Europeans destroyed habitats by mass clearing, cats are mild imo. We keep Pitbull's in this country yet they attack Humans all the time (and i don't care for that, its the owners fault crap as its just as much in there genes). It will Never pass. Nz has one of the dirtiest rivers in the world yet little is being done. The beautiful pure green environment here is on postcards not reality. The problem isnt so much the cat as it is how easy it is for one to be obtained by someone who is just going to let it roam. Registration and heavily enforced restrictions should be put in place not a flipping "BAN". Gareth Morgan needs grow a brain, id happily tell him to his face the bloke should have been in the Hobbit!. In Australia if you have a cat problem you can loan a trap to catch the cat and pass it onto the rspca, in the event it had a chip the owner would be fined before the animal could be released if not claimed re-homed or euthanasia.
  6. Would you eat at a restaurant if there was hair in your food? :rotf:

JaSa, it seem's you have an overly active temper and seeing you have no evidence behind your "Theory" i feel very little need to prove mine. Having been in 2 of the 3 industries you spoke of for a ten year period, i dare say i have more of a reference point then yourself. Not to mention there have been replies in this very thread from 2 importers. Find yourself an LFS that has been around as long as the hobby in NZ and ask them if the strains have become Weaker. Notice that the death toll on guppy's has a tendency to be higher than that of fancy tetras? Why? there both small? flight easily, guppy's require a neutral ph easily achieved fancy tetras preferring an acidic tannin stained environment i doubt you will find in any import/ quarantine. Why is there so many other species of line bred fish in NZ that don't have a death toll this high? they come through the same process?, maybe you should prove to me the effect's of stress over a diverse class of fish?. You may also want to note that the fish pictured carries the albino gene notably already a weakened fish.

Genetics play more of a factor than the above statement.
  9. LOL the Lep's seem to be enjoying these as well as the odd cave Weta.
  10. Iv used it before on snakes but not geckos? It will be much more cost effective in my case where it will be catering to 6 enclosures. 18 meters (14 usable) will only cost $50 as Apposed to numerous heat lamp fittings and lamps, and can be threaded between all the enclosures? Everything i read suggest heat from below where receptors are concentrated is best for Leopards?.
  11. I use mine to germinate seedlings.
  12. I haven't had a problem yet with delivery or supply.
  13. I use cardboard layered on top of the meal, and all the beetles accumulate here pupa are always in the bran and once the bran starts to move (eggs hatch) i separate the beetles.

Awesome Cuttlefish, Glaucus Atlanticus are found in the presence of Blue Bottle's and there was a confirmed account of one in NZ so keep your eye out.
