    whiteworms

Wok uses a small poly bin as that keeps them a bit cooler in summer. I thought that was a good idea... plus you need the potting mix Let me know

Paul Have you got "housing"for them ? I could bring you a few down on Saturday if you want? Up to you though to remind me on Friday night as my memory is very suspect
  6. I have a community tank in the lounge and 42 tanks that I breed in. The tank in the lounge houses spare males but normally no more than 2 of any 1 type. Breeding must be done seperatly as Paul has said although fry can be mixed if the females look totally different ie Dageti and Australi
  7. Being a long weekend, I was at the bach at Coromandel but to b honest, had I realised that the close off date was the beginning of October, I would have been there. As it was, there weather didnt allow more than one dive so no excuses for not going. Looks great and thanks for the photos... well done Tim for the effort in the Killi stand as well

    Dallas

http://www.dallaskillifish.com Just came across site and they have some really interesting threads. Seem like nice people as well More time on the net
  9. must admit that the distance thing suprises me here as people think that 15kms is a long way. Each to their own. Years ago when I was in Perth, some people that had lived there all their life had never been to the other side of the river and the river goes through the middle of town
  10. I agree with Alan and Ron And also search for tubiflex I feed a pkt a day of frozen blood worms but prefer the "Kong" ones as they are full whereas the other 2 brands have a lot less in them

    Microworms

mine live in the garage and just sit on the tank
  12. extreamly hard to do as you need to put quite a bit of presure on the glass in order for the drill to go through What size of hole are you looking at? If it was small enough, you can buy a spade drill but again, the drill site needs to have a water bath to stop dust and keep the glass cool. If you need further advice, contact me and I can possibly help( Im a glass merchant)
  13. The reason it would break from near the brace is that the walls of the tank are too thin causing a bend in the glass with a stress point being at the brace. All it takes is for an Ion to be near the top and near the brace and you have a weak point. As I have mentioned several times, a lot of tanks are built well below the glass manufactures recomendations... not the aquarium people or glaziers but the people that make the glass.
  14. your welcome to come over and have a look at what I do if you want... Im not here this weekend though Westie

    Gardneri Blues

Good but I probably need some more at some stage
  16. I have mine at 22 to 24 deg but agree with Wok about the plants

    Microworms

The nature of the micros means that they will always have perfume of there own Best to grow them in your sock draw to hide the smell I grow mine in weatbix and use the late Alan Wakelins recipe
  18. I must admit that I have quite a few quite rear Killis and simply would not be prepared to risk loosing a breed by using inferior quality. I would maybe consider it if I was keeping more common fish Im not saying that I wont have problems but I feel better about using proven quality
  19. What warrentee did you get if you dont mind me asking and is it a reconised agent that you could go back to ?

    Lucky Fish

Just found this on an American site and thought it was worth linking here Apparently the amount of fish that hatches, the more luck you have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEuOx4ue8J8 Nothos (Killi Fish) hatching interesting
  21. I would look at mounting the electrics on another small block just incase there is an over flow of water while filling? Looking good
  22. incredible!!!!!!!!! That pigeon is a hen and its colour is a Blue Bar
  23. Alan and myself joined the Killi Club at roughly the same time and after I gave up the fancy we never kept in touch as a PC was something that only NASA had. My Daughter Shinal, brought home some guppys and that got me looking at Killis again and Alan "closed" the deal and I was back into it. Over the next few weeks, Alan would get a couple of calls a week from me asking stupid questions and he offered help without hesitation. I and Shinal, will miss Alan and his never ending knowledge and help that was so freely given. The fancy will be a little worst off for his passing
  24. Blue Gardneri, Striatum, really almost anything although Nothos are shorter lived and take 2 or 3 months for the eggs to incubate but are nice once you get them up and running. Send Aquanut a PM and see what he has
  25. Tim was up here in Aucks today and may well be back in about a week so PM or email him and he may be able to bring some up?
