  4. must admit that after seeing what the others are doing over the last few days, Im thinking that some tanks Im building at the moment may well be cut down in size. Im building some 500l x 300 deep by 250 high and will possibly put the whole lot into twin tanks or maybe even devide some into 3 That will give me 42 tanks for Killis I think I need another stand
  5. go on just order them you know you want to you wont be happy untill you get them go on, do it
  6. gatito Time to put away the coffee and put burbon on your weatbix... starts the day of reeeeaaal nice
  7. I agree with DavidR everytime you get products from over seas, you take away a little of the profit (and therefore the reason to be in bussiness) from a local store. By all means, buy from over seas if there is a huge difference but dont complain when your favorite shop closes down. Also, dont insult them by asking them how to use or can you get parts for or service Im not tryingt to give you a hard time but just be aware of the true cost if things turn bad
  8. Acrylic is very sof and easy to scratch so you would need the finest possible paste. I wouldnt use Brasso See if you can get some jewlers rouge and try it on a "hidden"part of the tank 1st The tank would (of course) have to be empty
  9. Megs any really fine grinding paste will work and brasso is one of the better ones. Almost all will replace the large scratch with finer less noticable scratches, The system used will start off with a course paste like brasso then move through progressively to even cork/canvas grit if the job warrents it.
  10. I have a glass company been in the trade for 39 years 1st started makeing tanks when the first silicone was imported for the glass trade (dont make them nowdays) scratches, yes we get asked at least once a day but a scratch can take up to 2 or sometimes 3 hours to remove and therefore very expensive.

    Big Thanks

Starting mate I have Scheeli and Sjo fry from Stu and hopefull of a few more this weekend, then will start breeding so that we can build the numbers up. Just dont want to see any more spieces die out All the tanks are up and running now thanks to extension cords. My new rack should be here soon so that I can put another 10 tanks in. Im thinking of makeing them all twin tanks. Wifes happy as it keeps me out from under her feet and the bussiness runs well when Im not there

    Big Thanks

A sincere thanks to all of you that have helped me in getting started again. Everyone has been of a great help and I really do apreciate it
  13. we use Jewlers Rouge mixed as a thick paste with water There are scratch removal kits availabe in the trade but they cost around the $1000 mark. What they do is grind the glass out makeing a small dish in the glass (in other words, makeing the glass thinner). This can cause the glass to give an altered view of the inside of the tank, Just as glasses do or when you look at the corner of a curved corner tank. As a general guide, if you can feel the scratch with your finger nails, it may be too deep to remove the scratch without damaging the surface. The important thing is to use a pure wool buff on a slow speed (and I mean really slow speed 150 t0 300 RPM) drill. The use of a higher speed drill can cause the glass to burn and therefore you can get a rainbow effect in the glass. You may well lighten the scratches without removeing the water from the tank but if you are going to have a serious attempt, remove all the water to avoid termal breakage
  14. Colour is one way The northos are a lot greyer and the Australe are browner
  15. thanks Never realised that they would change their colths that fast Thanks
  16. pity I didnt see this earlier, you could have borrowed a heater from me Im asleep by 10
  17. Do all Killis change colour? My Choc Australes seem to go really dark when around the logs in the comunity tankl. I mean really really dark. As they swim away, you can notice the colour lighten up. Is this common with most spieces?
  18. if the marks are whiteish and have been caused by leaving the tanks wet while storeing... maybe with damp paper, then there is little that can be done. Glass reacts really badly to lime and water has lime/calcium in it. It eats into the glass and distroys the surface. Glass showers are often found in this condition if you dont squeegy the water off. Always store glass in very dry conditions and avoid allowing the glass to get wet while stored unless there is room for air to get to it and dry it off... dont store glass up tightly against other glass as the dampness will distroy it If its not that then a little more of a description please and I may be ably to help
  19. Im told that the Visi-Therm come with a 5 year garentee If they are offering a 5 year garentee then they must have something going for them

    I wonder

Cesarz Any chance on finding out what they have? Just to see if they have any that we dont?

    I wonder

I wonder how many people have Killis out there but are not members of the Killi club. I know that some may well be members of other clubs and feel that that is enough for them but some species are becoming quite rare and the fish that some of these people hold may well be the link that can strenghten the species Even if these people don't want to join up, hopefully they can let one of us know what they have so we can include them in out lists of whats out there. Feel free to send a PM if you dont want eveyone to know
  22. mine push the veges aside and eat the meat
