    To kill the cat

How do you know the cat actually got it??? Did you see the cat with the fish in its mouth. Fish can jump from thier tanks.(im meaning the catfish here , not the goldfish)

    Sterbai Corys

Anyone here got any experience with breeding Sterbai cories? Seems to be the right time of the year for me as they, along with my kribs and pristellas, are spawning. ive removed the skunk loache(dont ever put skunk loaches in a planted tank and expect to catch them in a hurry  ) they are now on their own. Do i remove the eggs or let them go for it.????Its heavily planted. I gotta say they look absolutley hilarious carrying the eggs with thier anal fins( very skillful too)
  5. Can someone tell me what colour eggs kribs have? My pair have laid inside a flowerpot and from what i can see, they are all white looking. Is this normal or are they infertile? The pair are defending the pot, but Ive only had them just over a week so not sure if they have actually breed before.
  6. Skunk loaches are great at this too

    stresszyme

Stress zyme just adds beneficial bacteria to the tank. these bacteria require amonia to feed them to allow them establish. the cycle is complete once the good bacteria build up enough to create a balance for the amount of amonia produced in the tank. does that make sense??
  8. I post mine exactly as Alan does. I always send via parcel post as people always complain about the price of courier, and have not had a single complaint yet. HTH
  9. Stella, Im sure things will all fall into place. As Caryl already mentioned, you can see the bright side.To many people sit and think about what could have been, rather than look ahead. Years ago when i got made redundant, I just applied for every job in the local paper and I ended up in the job Im in now. Started as the delivery boy, and now Im the store manager. And I love the job. Im sure youll find something better to do, just keep your head up and look ahead and remember to always smile Simon
  10. May interest you, Palmerston North Animates currently have half a dozen mud skippers. Real interesting looking fish Not sure if they are for sale though.
  11. Also Simian done an awesome job in this thread to explain fluoros. Check it out http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/lighti ... 32844.html
  12. Its to do with the spectrum and colour temperature of the tubes. Its fine to use tube bought from bunnings or mitre 10 , just make sure you get the ones rated around 6500k, otherwise known as cool daylight bulbs. Very white light, similar to midday sunlight. they commonly are coded with the numbers 865, which in short means its 80 on colour scale at 6500 kelvin rating. The difference with most common home bulbs(fluoros) is that most people prefer the warm yellowy orange light which is not really adequate for plant growth. The bulbs sold inLFS are fine but your paying extra for fancy packaging and branding, although some of the spectrums like the coral tubes are almost impossible to buy any other way. My advise is just use tube from bunnings etc that are rated at 6500k. Thats all I use and my plants grow wonderfully. Also as Alanmin suggests combining with a growlux tube will prob be better but thats up to you, and how much you wanna grow your plants HTH
  13. Say it Not just a seperate building.Its a FISHROOM isn't it.
  14. Doesnt matter what plant it is but I still get a buzz too when my aquatic plants flower. Good one Zabman Mine flowed recently too, and it wasnt even planted , just had a few plants weighed down with lead strip but it still sent up a flower head. 16. Just let me know when
  17. MH light would work , but expensive to run See if you can get two 4 foot double fittings That should give you enough light to grow most plants. What sort of plants keep dieing on you? I have a three foot with 2 X 2 foot flouros and my tank is 450 deep and I have no trouble with crypts a large sword and java mos and even get algae growth on my anubias. I would love MH myself but cant justify cost of running them, when i get satisfactory results
  18. Do it Stella Ive thought of it, the only thing holding me back is the limited access to clean NSW.
