  1. Welcome to the forums 8)
  2. Oh wow so great to see you posting shell We had lost your email addy so please flick us an email.... Will PM you our new email addy The frons are doing fantastically 8) Growing and love their tank, they seem to stick more so down the dim end, blue lighthing, nowhere near as intense 8) PS Would love to see some more bully pics hehe We have a Staffordshire pup coming to join us next week, new addition and will be getting a english bully towards the end of the year 8)
  3. Wow that is awesome news that it is contained TK Our Blue Lynx Point boy that we had, had a contained growth on his chest cavity/lung section, however it was not removeable, so that was a real downer, just so glad that your girl has a growth that is manageable enough to remove
  4. I have been told that the job is well done while dangling your feet whilst on a tour: http://www.africasharkdivesafaris.com/ You could even get an amputation or two free of charge 8) Hmmm you wouldn't want one of those feet sessions if you are ticklish and unable to control your reflex actions... maybe a few fish KO'ed or flattened fish on the bottom of the foot spa
  5. Oh hell, never got to see that lot
  6. There were also a lot brought in that looked like they had been tampered with in colour, if I remember they were pink.. they were ghastly looking things that almost looked like they had some sort of mbuna type face
  7. I think sometimes it comes down to money money money... bugger the correct ID... and that is coming from the asian exporters overseas, just interested in the quick buck :-? Hubbys work has "Bumblebee Plec" in this week.. will have a nosey... 8)
  8. It could possibly be a crossed variant? There is always that possibility.. if infact different variants have come into NZ... however, one would never know as rather a few species of African hit this country with no variants sent or given... Short of knowing what it came in as... it would be hard to say....
  9. Have you got any pics?
  10. Awww she is gorgeous TTK.. I am so sorry to hear your news..... We used to have a Blue Lynx Point... They are so full of charcacter... I am sending a heap of positive vibes your way and I hope they can do something for her....
  11.   Juvenile Oscars will predate on anything that moves and anything that will fit in their mouths, even at a squeeze... They are amazing... I had some young Surinamensis grow ons in a bare bottom holding tank, reasonable size, and 2 slightly smaller size Oscars in there also... just to hold them all till tanks were ready for both species to go in their own tanks... well hmmm yeah it would help to have some young Surinamensis left to actually go in the tank  I caught one of the Oscars, trying to cram a Surinamensis down his gullet, a real tight squeeze and I had to end up removing the fish from his mouth or there would have been a problem otherwise  Lesson learned: Don't trust Juvenile Oscars with anything that moves
  12. I will put some more pics tonight guys.... My son has had Scarlet Fever since Thursday and through the worst of it now... so will put some up tonight, haven't been online much at all.

    whats this?

Ahhh the good old driftwood, not to worry bulldogod... mine have done exactly the same thing in the past So easy to just snag on the pointy bits, so made a mental note to avoid anything sharp in tanks. Chocs seem to be the kind of fish to always end up in the wars that way... maybe startle easier and whop... 8)

    whats this?

Looks to me like your Choco has taken a couple of scales off, or most like has hit something sharp.... do you have driftwood with points or anything like that in the tank?
  15. I agree it looks like schist to me, we have heaps of it down here, it comes in really awesome slabs, with the stepped look and you can also get flatter pieces... we have used it in our African setups to get a certain look and it is so easy to work with. Landscape suppliers normally have it often.... It is much cheaper to buy than slate etc....
  16. Awesome 8) Looks like you are going to have your hands full
  17. Lip locking is perfectly fine mitzy It is normal that the lips can look a bit red afterwards or during the course of lip locking, as long as he isn't bashing her as such like tearing at her finnage or knocking her around then things should be fine and dandy
  18. Cool 8) You will love them I am sure, and possibly won't end up wanting to part with them
  19. Very nice 8) Gotta love those Bolivians and GBA boy.... Tank looks awesome... great stuff
  20. Great stuff Amazonian Looking good 8) Our Dwarf Flags are in with Black Phantom Tetras, Lemon Tetras and Discus... fine and dandy 8)
  21. Not having a seeded filter would concern me a little.... Oscars are good eaters but very messy, a good dry pellet food, wouldn't feed anything too messy.. and would definately feed sparingly... is there anyway someone around that area might have some filter media spare to help kick start canister? They also appreciate a good water change 8) Around 26 for temp, give or take 8)
  22. Probably better to suggest things Si that can live in the tank long term, its all good us suggesting to get a bigger tank, but bear in mind that maybe that is all Rozski has to play with  (for now) Tangys would probably be your best bet long term if you were to go African. Julidos are a heap of fun, awesome fish who will keep you entertained for rather a while

    Introduction

Welcome to the forums Linda, hope you enjoy yourself here
  24. Brichardi would be ok, however they are not bright or colourful like the Electric Yellows of which Rozski mentioned earlier. Depends what overall look you want to go for. I like Julidochromis, hard case, like little battle subs.
