I would stay clear of the additives as well. Neons are not a particularly hardy fish when it comes to cycling tanks, but keep up the waterchanges, it may pull through.

Drive just under 1000km - 13hrs on the road and the ferry as well? I do not think it would be much cheaper.

Wow, some mozzie has been busy! I sometimes take a few rafts and sit them in my fry tanks - instant fast food when they hatch, and you do not have to sort them out for size and end up with adults in the house because they are too big to fit in the fish's mouth.

Was the complete clean out just recent, or when you got the tank, it should have been cycled after six months.

What about a breeding net like the AquaOne brand? Would probably pay to modify it so that you could weigh it down from the outside rather than putting a big rock inside.

Ooohhhh... are you going to kick this off for us? I can provide pics of some algae, but am too busy to do the writing bit. You could create your own thread and get people to submit pics and what they did to get rid of it and what they think the cause of it was, then formulate a writeup for it that can be stickied. Be aware that if Caryl gets wind of this that she will want an article -
