  1. Aheemm.... what have you been injecting into your danios down there, KP? Don't think we will have any transgenic ones, thanks all the same!
  2. Your responses are better than mine, and I would get into more trouble than you do if I reveled the extent of my sarcastic nature here... Thank you for the pics, keep them coming.
  3. Well, you have got to get in first, because you just know what he is going to say
  4. What are some red and black fish? I am making up a poster for the HBAS Quiz for Christchurch we are having next week and the only one I can think of is Red Tailed Shark :-? So it is either that or I put little stripy jerseys on some other fish! And yes Ira, I have googled red and black fish, but not much appears that is helpful...
  5. Doubt that, I bet he is surfing on his Android!
  6. It is a terrestrial plant, not aquatic, does well in damp places though.
  7. My twisted val has staghorn  But it is flowering away quite happily - lights are out now, so will try to take a pic tomorrow, if i remember
  8. 80l will not give you much leeway for an upgrade. My tank has an 80l capacity, and it severely hinders what can be put in there in regard to fish and the tank invading 'sting anything that is near me' anemone that you may want.
  9. Shade cloth or weed mat?
  10. A lot of skimmers are air powered using a airpump to create the foam, airstone driven ones are a bit rarer though.
  11. Ok, back on topic please. An algae scrubber is a generic term for a system, just as the word filter encompasses many and varied methods of filtration.
  12. Ok, keep calm and watch the language please. GZ an algal scrubber would provide a means for nutrient export through the harvesting of fast-growing turf algae, he is not referring to cleaning the glass with a scrubber. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_6/ ... /algae.htm Might be a bit ambitious for a sub 100l tank, though
  13. I was going to say, were hare the pics! Is there any sexual dimorphism?
  14. How big is said C02 setup in relation to your tank? I would hazard a guess that a bigger mix will produce more C02 than a smaller one? My Nutrifin setup uses half a cup of sugar, half a teaspoon of yeast and about 500ml water, this does a 54l tank without causing gasping problems. And what time of the day did you start the new mix this time - if it was in the evening then as someone else said then the lights went out, the plants do not use the C02 in the dark.
  15. This one was nearly right under you! Universal Time March 5 2011 at 0:19 NZ Daylight Time Saturday, March 5 2011 at 1:19 pm Latitude, Longitude 43.60°S, 172.49°E Focal Depth 2 km Richter magnitude 3.4 Region Canterbury Location * 10 km south-west of Christchurch * 20 km west of Lyttelton Hang in there
  16. Last time I saw some was about five years ago in the LFS.
  17. Correct, I am indeed interested if the information you are freely dishing out is based on first hand knowledge or just something you have read. Same goes for Zayne
  18. Do you have a marine tank GZ_Loach?
  19. Unfortunately there is no such thing as budget when it comes to marines. There has been many a post from those who think that the 'nemos' look good and want to have some in a tank. They buy or acquire a sub 200l tank and try and set it up for marines. Small tank does not equal small cost for setup, and in reality the money spent to set up a small tank set up incorrectly, then adding or upgrading gear as you find it does not do the job is probably better spent on setting up a 200l+ tank properly in the first place. Many attempt a small tank and then give up after they suffer fish and invert/coral losses due to an inability to keep the parameters stable, the temperature low over the summer months or sub optimal lighting. I am not trying to put you off, but marines are something that you have to be willing to commit a fair amount of money to in order to provide the best conditions for the inhabitants, once you have achieved this, then they are a pleasure to keep, and not a chore.
  20. No cannister for filtration, skimmer would be better. You could put Phosphate remover in the canister, though.
  21. Zev

    Flowers :)

Oh yes you do! Yours is growing submersed - the pic above is the emerse growth form
  22. I think Jennifer is a little preoccupied at the moment
