  1. Maybe try sending Ron (Discusguru) a PM, not sure if he's still breeding them or not, I got mine off him. Gorgeous Fish.
  2. Could maybe start the cycling process with 5-6 Guppies Gourami's are great, they are usually non aggressive, You could keep several different varieties, Pearls, Golden, 3 Spot, Blue, just keep away from the Dwarf variety, they never seem to last long. I've got Golden Barbs, Cherry Barbs, Neons, Corys, Swordtails, Black Widows, Keyhole Chiclids, Rosy Barbs etc with mine and they all seem to get on well. Should be fine having a Simease Fighting Fish, just remember one Male only per Tank. Good Luck with your new Tank.
  3. Awesome Stuff, Congrats on the new member of your Fishy Family The trick is to buy 6 then watch them pair up You would then be 100% sure as too who's Male and who's Female  Apart from that I cant tell the difference between the 6 Discus I have.
  4. A true Black Line Flying Fox should have the line on it's body extend right through the Tail. I had 3 of these fellas, fantastic for keeping Algae at bay. I sometimes wonder if some of the Pet Shops actually know what they're selling, I've told the petshop here, that a Fish they have labelled as something is actually something else.
  5. Yes, the Blue does fade out. Fantastic Stuff, have used it several times for Ich, with great results. I always re-dose after the 3 days as it says on the Bottle, but only after a good Water Change.
  6. Unforunately it is part of Fiskeeping or any Animal keeping for that matter  Just have to enjoy them while we have them
  7. I had Algae Problems awhile ago, have now added DIY CO2 to the Tank, along with 2 Black Line Flying Foxes, these fellas do a great job I also add API Plant Food at 10 mls per day, Plants are growing great and no more Algae :bounce:
  8. I agree with IRA, as long as they've got plenty of Hidey Holes they should be fine.
  9. You could always pop a Nylon Stocking over the Intake Pipe, if you dont have the Strainer or a Sponge.
  10. Sorry for your Loss Henward Nothing worse than loosing a Fish or any other animal and NOT knowing why (Lost my Big Lop Earred Rabbit on Sunday, was fine Saturday afternoon, found him DEAD on Sunday)
  11. Thought they would have been past the problem stage, but obviously not
  12. Sorry when I said is it a BB Tank, I meant is it Bare Bottom or do you have gravel in it?? Much better to do daily Water Changes in a fry tank, especially if your feeding Liquidfry. Does get rather messy. If you do as Caryl says with the Filter you should be all good. Can be abit of a learning curve when it comes to raising fry, you win some you loose some, feed often, microworms are great, and alot less messy then Liquidfry, you can use abit of Boiled Egg Yolk as Fry Food, lots of water changes, you don't need to fill the Tank up either, 10cm should be enough for raising fry. Good Luck anyway.
  13. Don't think the Pantyhose over the Filter Intake will have anything to do with the High Nitrites. Is this a BB Tank?? How often are you feeding?? I would say your Tank is going through the Cycling process.
  14. Should allow about 50 Ltrs per Discus, if your wanting more, it means more water changes. What fish do you have in the Tank with your Discus??
  15. I've had a couple of Discus do that lately henward, Just give up on eating, I treated both of them with Metro in a hospital tank as soon as I saw there was a problem, but lost both of them to exactly the same symptoms, I have no idea what's happening with them. They get 2-3 water changes a week, are feed a mixture of Tetra Colourbits, Bloodworms, Tubifex Worms etc Have to say it is the smaller ones of my 7 Discus that have been affected by this.
  16. He would be alot more confident in a group of 4-6 I would be doing water changes everyday or at least every second day, so he grows out nicely. Mine love bloodworms, it's like a feeding frenzy when I feed bloodworms to my 6 Discus. Nice clean Tank, frequent water changes, good food and he should be all good.
  17. Wonder Tonic is great stuff Currently treating my Angel Tank with this for White Spot, always have good results, Have know idea why I have White Spot, the Tanks been setup for at least a year now, with no new additions.
  18. Naughty Puddy Tatt  Glad to hear you got it sorted
