  1. Thanks Alan, Blue and Kim for the info about the Paradise Fish, I saw these on Trade Me for $8 each and thought they looked like rather pretty fish, by the sounds of it looks can be deceiving aye, best I leave them well alone, dont want any harrassment going on in me tank. Thanks again Guys, Lynda.
  2. Does anyone know much about Paradise Fish, can I put them into a community tank or are they abit aggressive, any info on them would be great. Thanks Lynda
  3. Thanks for that, interesting info on the site, Once again thanks Lynda.
  4. Thanks Guys for all the info, really dont wont to have to part with half of me fishies in the tank, just cause they eat plants, will try the daily feeding of lettuce and other various veges, once again thanks Lynda.
  5. Hi once again Vapo, Just thrown some Lettuce into me tank and the fish are eating it like its their last meal, I'm totally shocked, so maybe this WILL save my live plants, once again thanks heaps for the info. Lynda
  6. Hi Guys, Just been reading up on DIY CO2 units, thought I might give this ago, I already have a Hagen CO2 unit, thought I might run that aswell as a DIY one, with the DIY one about how many litres does this do, my tank is 330L, read that I would need several of these, far cheaper to make me own, (would probably be in a 2.25 l coke bottle), than buy the Hagen ones at bout $50 each, your thoughts on this would be great. Thanks Lynda
  7. Hi Vapo, Thanks for the reply, I will definitely give the lettuce ago before I even begin to think, of getting rid of any of me plant eating fish. Thanks Lynda
  8. Hi there, Just wondering if someone could help me with the question of , Plastic or Live Plants, have been told that alot of the fishies that I have in my 330L tank are plant eaters, Silver Dollars, Barbs and a very lrge Pleco, just bought a heap of plants off Trade Me, how beneficial are live plants to fish? must admit there's nothing that looks nicer than a nicely planted tank. I'm having to decide, do I get rid of me plant eating fish, what other fish do you guys recommend in a community tank, that aren't so into eating the plants? Thanks Lynda
  9. Hi Carly, Thanks for that, looks like my tank may look kinda empty if I remove all the plant eating fish aye, not quite sure wat to do now, will I go for the fish or will I go for the Plants, hmmm will have to have a serious think about it, wont I lol.
  10. Hi Alan, Thanks for the info about adjusting the PH, you are meaning shell grit as in what you give to ya budgies, is that right? Sorry if I seem abit slow lol, and what do you mean by a box filter?Hmmm, so the Silver Dollars are the culprits then aye, I may have to consider getting rid of them then, just bought a heap of plants off Trade Me so I dont want them mysteriously disappearing again lol, are there any other fishies that like to eat plants? Would be great if you could let me know. Thanks Lynda
  11. Sorry, I forgot to add the PH pf the water coming out of the Tap is 7, and as for the lighting that I have on top of the tank , I have Two fluro Bulbs measuring about 3.5 ft long and these are 30watts each.Once again thanks for any info. Lynda
  12. Hi there, Thanks to everyone that replied to my question about the ph level in my tank. My ph levels at the moment are well below 6 and would like it to be around the 7 mark I think. In this 330L tank I have a couple of large castle ornaments made of plastic and a plastic boat wheel, with a few rocks from out the river, fish wise I have Gouramis, Silver Dollars, Rosy Barbs, Tin Foil Barbs, Black Neons,1 very Lrge Pelco, 2 very Lrge Silver Sharks, (which I have just sold to Mystic),2 Clown Loaches,2 Lrge Angels, 2 small Angels,2 Red Tailed Botia(which are looking abit sick at the moment), think thats about it. I only have plastic plants as somebody keeps on eating the live plants that I put in, not sure who it is tho, if you have any ideas on who is eating them , it would be good to know.Any answers to these questions would be very much appreciated. By the way has anyone seen the new fake plants out now, I bought some the other day, they are made out of some sort of material, they look amazingly real, and they even move to the current in the water, they're great. Thanks Lynda
