  2. i havea small borneo tiger, eats rfawns sometimes but loves bloodworms i have seen borneos a little bigger eating pellets. if i starve this borneo, will it eat pellets eventually? or will it kill itself out of pickyness?
  3. i definatley recognise the iking to them i like different things about a fish not my cup of tea. i guess, ia lways look at it this way. fi you release a flowerhorn or a parrot cichlid, though they are hybrids, somewhat ugly to some they have a fighting chance in survival in the wild. why? they still keep the main characteristicsof theirformer ancestors. but gold fish? i dont actually know so please educate me - do they exist in the wild? what was the original form? cos if you release tese orandas in the wild, they will die in less han a 1minutes from other fish. though that doesnt matter to billions who keep goldfish, fair enough i guess i like fish that can survive, my personal thing and opinion though
  4. the forumisnt emailing me anymore when i have updates and topics are replied to it used to with out fail please help me thanks!

  6. i guess everyone has differing opinions, i should know but i have ne ver appreciated or liked any type of gold fish. for some reason, i see them as fish food....... sorry for gold fish lovers also, the bumps on the head, im sure that inhibits daily tasks such as... i dont know....living? i saw some pretty nasty flowerhorns in thailand the head humps are huge! they cant even swim properly....
  7. i wish i had lots of money and a nice big tank and some space for that gorgeous red aro online right now:( the colour is extreme!
  8. so funny i gave my jardinii a shrimp thats so big that its almost 3 times the size of its head. a big prawn. it takes 15 mins to swallow but finally it does. what a pig. sorry i just found it funny most fish would drop the food it wouldnt relent, kept on trying, then shaking its head untill it was bent and broken and able to be swallowed. now 14 inches:D the head seems so small compaired to its body
  9. yes, in theory you can say beheadings leaves the head alive for 20 seconds but has anyone actually put it into practise and lived to tell the tale? scientists say things out of theory all the time global warming, smoking is bad for you, fatty foods causes heart disease..... meh! ALL CONJECTURE 8) lol i kid i kid!!!
  10. cleaver souns fine to me quck and painless but clove oil seems more humane for some reason but scientificaly, cutting off the spine would instantly kill the fish sad story thoug putting down a large fish thats gotta be upsetting!
  11. hi there it would be quicker to google that the thing about this forum, its very usefull but generall for more complex problems. or rarer fish problems. but generally google is recommended. i dont know the anwser to your question but you can find it on google:) saves you waiting for an answer
  12. i wouldnt even do waer changes i would puton a regime to feed very little, maybe once every two days, small amount, keep timer on, filter on, mybe clean the filter slightly 3 weeks prior leaving. then change wtaer when you get back withg plnted tanks, it should help also

    Juwel Heaters

even jebo you can get badluck i have jebos and no problems the issues are this with cheaper heaters, the light stops working and stuff, maybe thermostat so you hvaeto adjst and measure yourself which actual temp versus the temp on the dial invest in fluval, or aqua one i thnk aqua one is the best value for money
  14. why no light? for 10 dollars bunnings sell a timer for light. and for 20 bux, you can get an auto fish feeder but 7 days shouldnt be a problem so long as you dont have any predators that will eat other fish.

    Condensation

DVS system + thousands a nice tight nig fittin lid, you can even silicone the ends to almost air tighten it, would ecrease this by 90% also, its beter for fish cos if water goes, all the nasty stuff stays.... concentration increases, thogh its marginal. i have mine in the garage, so it doesnt matter if its humid
  16. i change more than 500 litres total out of my tanks a week minimum no water ager
  17. silver arowana is a good beginner fish
  18. sorry bout your losses i check on my fish everyday though my fish are more resilient than smaller fish 9they are monster fishes you see) i still check it. circuit breaker can sometimes stop filters too. if you have a spray bar, it makes a sount all the time or clear water movement. at a glance you can check and see what the filter is doing. but unfortunately with africans, they are a high waste fish i take it. 8+ , you are lucky to have survivors. the survivors are indeed the stronger fish !
  19. what types are available in nz? all i have seen is the ones on trademe right now and a bluer type... both i think are the same ust slightly different colouration. any one know of any other types?
  20. i have a 600l with my jardinii and 2 silver dollars, 1 flagtail and 2 tinfoils and 1 angelicus syno i feed my jardinii plenty, i want it at 60cm you see:D its currently at 35cms or so. so i over feed it - i change the water, 30-40% weekly, sometimes twice weekly if i get bored and want to procastinate doing actualy paperwork and work i should be doing:D see, who ever said procastinating is bad??
  21. techinically it is the same its in a 4 foot tank, its 12 cms long at most. (also, my email is no longer receiving reply notification, can anyone help me:)
  22. i has a slight spinal curve just after its stomach towardsthe back. i have seen this before in pictures i dont know what causes it or is it a birth defect?
  23. thats not over stocked you are fine iwth your weeklies maybe every 3 weeks or 4 weeks, do a gravel syphon. one bucket aday i would assume would be more of a pain in the arse than a weekly water change how do you change the water? not gravel shyphoning i mean just the water? what i do is i buy a hose, any hose, stick it in the tank, and suck the other end, when the desired level is reached, i plug hose into tap, turn on, whalaa! leave al ittle hose sized holeon top of the tank. so you dont hvae the more around the lights and stuff i have 6 tanks, 4 of which are large, 2 are small i can change the water 25 to 30% and it takes less than 30 minutes to do all of them:D you just work out a system to change water fast
  24. measured justnow the big one is 13 inches head to tail the smaller one is 12 inches i hear they get to about 16 to 18 inches mfk guys have some at 16 to 18 inches
  25. ill get a measurement, a ruler on the tank or osmething and take a pic its big though
