I have been keeping Arowanas for ages. since in philippines, i have had asian arowanas, silvers also. In nz, as far as i know, i have seen australian, silver, black and asian. there is one asian for sale now at a site that we do not speak of, its $4000! but its the best you can get pretty much. its 2500 in singapore. the Australian Arowana that livingart is selling is a nice one, i have one, They are aggressive, they dont need a HUGe tank, and really cool fish, you can Actually enhance their colour with some nice lighting, although limited enhancement, butlooks nice. Always keep in mind, arowana eat alot! they poo alot and digest food rapidly, filtration is a key thing here. massive filtration is important. Regular water changes.

You can purchase plenty off the net It is a better way than putting it in a container and using a light bulb

i have heard of black and red tail sharks wasting ornate bichirs! they can be very aggressive.

i have two big ones wide bar and indo the indo is the one that likes it funny, it seems to really like it, when it eats anythig else, sometimes it will spit the food out and swallow it again a couple of times and eat it. but with peas, it just goes down and it just wants more untill its belly swells:D its really funny i didnt train it or anything, i jsut feed as i usually do, feed the oscar and GG, then suddenly it started eating the others food, which is peas

it took me weeks to get my 14 inch plus borneo to eat shrimp instead of beef heart.....and suddenly it starts competing with the giant gourami for peas! it eats peas, single peas, clumps of frozen peas, just peas, it loves it, strange

yeah, appalling last time i mentioned asians and their animal treatment i got labelled a member of the kkk, ironic cos my skin is of yellow shade, slightly off while but more mother of pearl:P but i must agree, the other month, hong kong fishermen found a fish that hast been seen for almos 20 years....what did they do...sell it, ate it its a shame. heres the thing. facts from an indian mate of mine. if you look at arabs and indians, most dont have dogs, extremely low % has dogs or cats..... culture doesnt really promote dogs or cats, its a waste of money to them. white people, lots of dogs and cats. asians, fish (its a feng shui thing supposedly0 its all cultural. you kill what you need to eat or what you can kill....... some cultures have it n them.

yes it should be a concern but you could gun it out and see if it will settle giant gourami seems to either nt harass or keep on harassing, one killed my borneo tiger have seen that some are freaky aggro and some are timid. i have a timid one that kinda just challenges others but doesnt attack i have seen some that actually eat gold fish (i had one that ate gold fish and fish) live fish. so id be careful

I cant get a photos, the thing swims too fast. but its one eye looks normal, the other looks like its gonna explode and pop out! its about 2 to almost 3 times the size of the other eye, and slightly cloudy, while the other eye is just....normal! water params ok. no visible cuts or injuries. This is the borneo tiger that almost died 3 weeks ago, swimming upside down and staying still laying on its side for days. Suddenly it starts swimming and eats again. Anyone seen this before?

go to a swimming pool place, they have test strips why do you wanna test chlorine in a tank?

a GG can be violent or placid. unpredictable. but plants are a NO NO i have tried all sorts of plants ate it all

I have in the 4 footer two fluros for plants. i have 4 huge bunches of tiger lotus that keep sprouting baby ones that i transplant. Its a new obsession of mine, id ont know why i like them but i think they look nice. i cant getthe tiger lotus to come off the ground, they hug the ground and spread wde. in the shops i see display tanks with same plants but tall with thick trunks. I got a hold of some ROOT TABS, its yellow and green brand by aquarium pharmacuticals. i put some in, does this work?

yeah thats what i want, i want a 18 plus inch borneo tiger, i have two 14 plus inch i feed it up to 4 times a day when i can. change the water very regularly. 3 filters in the tank. i want it big but grows slow.

dont fill it with fine filter wool. it will clog immediatey you dont need it, it keeps the water crystal clear even with not fine wool fill he three middle sections with eheim effis substrat dont do ceramic rings. they re not as good. just fill it wiht that. and i guarantee you wont be able to raise that amonia unless you have large carnivores in there i have 2x 14 inch borneos, 1x 14 inch giant gourami and 1x 12 inch oscar and 1x 10 inch catfish, and i feed them 3 to 4 times a day the filter does its job i feel it prawns too

i would say yes observe borneo tigers are strong animals for some reason, only fish like jardinii arowana attacks large borneo tigers, they are the only ones cocky enough.

can you put killies in a community tank? and mix killies together? are they aggressive?

he was actually on sunday lying on his side, not moving at all! hardly breathing. then monday, he was upright, swimming he looks really really thin so he is still sick but swimming i am feeding him slightly some BW and prawns, he wants to eat but doesnt strike it. im still scared he is gonna die but he seems to be a fighter!

well, this is how i would put it. Reason why dogs and cats are not allowed is cos they spray poo and pee everywhere at times. unless you fish gets out of the tank and lays a massive one on the carpet or sprays pee... then i dont see a problem with it.

yeah, well i only have a canister filter and a internal filter for this tank so what ever i get has to be suitable for that set up. heater also i got. fish only marine - i was actually thinking getting a puffer too lol thers a couple of nice ones or a trigger fish!!! do you need a skimmer for that? how often do you do water changes with no skimmer?
