  1. well, the cost of arowanas are expensive to begin with. most fish may be wild caught or easy to breed. breeding arowana is challenging. also, breeders, push the cost up also of course, marketing and desire.... the more beautiful the aro, the more someone is willing to pay.... like any product really. in nz, they are expensive beause of compliance with nz MAF. shipping, gst. Example... 1.5 red arowana would cost 200 to 300 singapore dollars. Here its 1600 in the shops. the good thing is that quarantine cost and care cost is the same wether or not you buy a low grade or high grade. but of course, people base rofits and markup by %. so if a fish is high grade, then the % of profit will once again, push it up.
  2. already bought one from hollywood cheaper too. its ok ill just have to do it the hard way:D lol
  3. its too far that one i saw that, was gonna bid but its waikato
  4. holy crap that is huge i am gonna make mine that huge ill force feed it steroids
  5. i would not give a fish to hvae it looked after i will hvae a simple put ths in the tank every 2 days feeding schedule and stick this hosein the tank and suck and refil instructions:d i was away for amonth my mate changed all my water every 2 weeks. fed fish every 2 to 3 days minimal waste
  6. cool my royal looks just like that! i love them, patterns are nice i just dont bloody know how to get them to eat extremely like arowanas:D lol i want themt o get big and fat quickly i put algae wafers but it is more interested in sucking the rocks and wood:D and walls of the tank what a waste of 13 bux
  7. cool no room for me right now but when i do, i want a blue base malaysian:D .... but maybe a grade a xb first lol
  8. why the fcuk would you buy an arowana, worth upwards of 1500 grand.....and treat it like that gill curl is avoidable, and fixable.... split tail well ok, maybe not, but they should heal ok. and barbels growback with the proper care i dont understand. elmo, how many aros you got? what are they?
  9. well its cool i mean it is novelty it looks like skeletor as a catfish its bony obstruction from its body and stuff and head it really is novelty nd it cleans up the tank well after the jardinii has eated and shredded food, and it survives the jardiniii which is a plus. how much are those ones ? are they panaques or the ones that eat more algae? you selling? i want ones that retain colour as they get old
  10. the first pic? do they retain their colour when older? i bought a angelicus synodontis i must admit it looks like sh it , its full grown and in pictures hen young they are gorgeous i got it, the skin is brow nish with faded dots, i actually dont like it i only keep it cos my gf thikgs its cute how it acts lol
  11. looks similar to the scarlet but reversed in colour:D lol
  12. yeah thats what i heard i have a royal already - but i was considering a scarlet too. but the scarlet almost looks like a normal pleco with red fins... hence why i like the royal but those spotted ones are nice though.
  13. flagtails? are those the ones with one eye ? lol
  14. i want to see actual pics of fancy plecos people keep here adult if possible i cant decide on which one:D
  15. dunno but a a grade crossback asian arowana should be around the 3000 mark. problem is who will bring it in. you see, its not worth brining in unless they bring in 12 or more lol so you need to rope other people in to buy asian aros, doest hve to be so expensive, you can get them to bring in cheaper grades right now, the an importer bought in green aro, red and red tail golden arowana...and 3 premium ones similar to that - the 3 premiums are for a private collector not selling to public. there is a guy king , he sells them to the public, i dont know how he gets them. he sold EVIL ELMO a VIP RED a VIP RED is basically the most expensive red one you can buy from memory. Though they come up with more spectacular colours and flavours every year:D but VIP is indeed up there. If i am not mistaken, estimating a vip red would sell for a minimum 3500 to 4k. if you are interested in cheaper asian aros, a few petshops have some right now, they are still beautiful. but unfortunatley, crossback golden is very expensive, the cheaper version of that is a red tail gold which is one i bought - the gold stops on the 4th scale. crossback is gold everywhere. hence the cost. funny the cost of breeding them is the same wether its a low grade or high grade, its merely the buyer who pushes the price up:D
  16. wow that would be 3k minimum i would take care of a fish that expensive lol
  17. cool thats good there is plenty of light, means when its roots establish itself, it should grow nicely! awesome. it didnt have much of roots at all, just little stubs of roots, so i guess that takes time when the roots rearch the fertiliser in the gravel the clay ball stuff, hope it starts to grow:D
  18. hi there take a pic, and i will tell you what it is if its a gold, then you are looking at minimum 2k:D i just bought myself a Red tail gold, and a red arowana before that. i also have a australian jar head aro
  19. only the slimy brown algae is present. i can see the royal and BN 'suck marks' on the walls and wood and plants, but not enough is being eaten yet shall i scrub gently the brown algae on the anubias?
  20. patience..... not my favourite virtue:D thanks for the tip though:D will TRY to be patient
  21. mmm i see i guess im very impatient but i shall be patient then:D ok cool so the brown stuff on the leaves, i just leave that alone right? well, at least there is abundant food for the catfishes:D
  22. ages! the tank has been there for ages gravel has just been added to be able to plant so if you mean by how long has the planting started? then it sonly about 4 weeks max the lights are on 14 hours per day
  23. i have three bright white lights in my tank, to colour up my rtg as much as possible but a side effect is brownish algae on surfaces. i have a bristle nose and a royal pleco in there just recently and i see that they suck on the walls, rocks and wood to rid of this but my plants have a brown layer on them how do i get rid of this in the gravel i have the jbl balls and i put excel, potassium and iron as per the dosing on the instructions. the plants are growing reasonably. crypts - slowly butsurely anubias, i have a green one and a green with speckles of white on it. Not growing at all. i have some ahri grass, some random grass things. they are slowly growing too i have star grass and wysteria, they are growing slightly faster....... a red sowrd and amzon sword, the amazons are growing faster than the reds. i have plenty of light, fertiliser...... they should be growing faster right? i hvae taken some clippings from nother tnak to add some more in there to take more nutrients away from the algae. how can i get rid of the brown algae on the leaves? this obviusly blocks the light that helps them grow.
