  1. i had plecos before, never ate plants, but when plnts are not rooted properly, they uprooted them. its ok,if thats the case. i really like the royals
  2. in the tank, there is a piece of driftwood, its getting a nice algae coating on it already, the bristle nose just isnt hungry enough to suck it all off, s there should be plenty of pre existing food for the royal pleco. the walls get them too, and the rocks in there. i saw the bristlenose suck on the rock the other day, and cleans it:D but its too small and cant eat enough at one time. and ill try night feeding it. will it destroy plants?
  3. how aobut those algae things? hikari stuff
  4. In my tank i have a red tail gold arowana 5 clown oaches 1 clown knife 1 ornate and 1 bristlenose i am adding a small royal pleco thinking of getting the algae sinking stuff for plecos by hikari how do i get the plecos to eat, do i just drop it in there? do you think this will be attractive for the other fish at the bototm and eat it before plecos do?

    Help!!!!

your water parameters might be completely fine if you wre away then maybe no one fed the fish. so you probably contained the spikes change water of course then turn the filter on ..... thats what i would do if fish are dead then.....well, thats a problem
  6. yeah fair enough, shrimp only and pellets and the odd comet
  7. its diet will be hikari aro pellets, shrimps and live feeders until i run out of feeders:) i have about 40 or so left, i feed 1 a week, maybe 2 times a week. i feed my feeders hikari:D lol and discuss tucker to fatten them up!
  8. yeah i cannot take pics to save myself the tail is just getting red on mine but not so much the body is very gold though
  9. sorry bout pics, really crap at taking pics, i dont know how people take such nice pics lol
  10. hes only 6 inches long ate heaps of food less than 5mins into the tank, shrimps stuffed with hikari pellets cant wait for him to grow!
  11. it never siezes to amaze me that people have facts so wrong. thisis the age of google. someone wanting to buy a pacu thats 40 cms and the tank is only 1200 in length.....does not make sense.
  12. also i have put these clay ball JBL things into the gravel under the plants i have potassium, Iron and excel (all same brands) i does with those too. anything else i should do? that doesnt cost a kidney or a ball? i have 3 bulbs, power glow, arcadia plant grow and aqua glow
  13. i got only the plants for 4 days, the crypt ave lots of new leaves, none lost one plant has 6 new leaves the other 3 which is smalle rto begin with. i will trim some roots of the crypts, and the swords has long roots, i will trim that too
  14. i bought some crypts and owrds and grasses for my tank should i remove the pottles with peat moss they come with? or can i bury the entire thing. i see that the roots are coming out anyways, but should i remove them for better plant growth or will it make little or no difference/
  15. but in saying that i have never had a fluval fail on me
  16. mmm i find that the fluvals pieces fit more snug, i have jebo and aqua ones to compare.. i find fluvals are more reliable, rubber is better, the plastic is tougher and harder almost impact resistant (dropped one lol) priming them is also easy, except the hoses dont fit all tanks with bracing. but you get around that. fx5 for example compared to the aqua one aquis series is so superior in build quality. but i guess its differing opinions. strange though, i had an fx5 a few years old, new model came out the impeller and rubber seals and hoses all are still available
  17. aq1 is probably the best chinese rip off out there but i personally like fluval - worksmanship is superior
  18. 1200 is easier only 10 bux more
  19. there you go perhaps not such a good idea i stick to my prawn and hikari pellets..... prawns are from china though wonder if it has fillers.....melamine? ok, maybe not, but cant be too sure
  20. mosquito larvae if i am not mistaken very good for small fish! healthy for fish! and apparently, mosquitos do not lay eggs in contaminated water....dont know if thtas true though
  21. mmmm those filters are usually quite good, high output, the problem is you are relying on the water to cascade towards the left or right, so it doesnt force the water to go through the media. But should be ok if its an established tank, the only think i can think of is under fitration and increase in bio load. Check for dead fish somewhere? lol sounds strange but in a community tank, a couple of neons can easily die and get traped in the driftwood which CAN affect it. if not, then perhaps add more bio media? or just go all out and get an FX5:)
  22. wouldnt that do the same thing, it would suck in air from the surface? i guess im looking for a more stable solution i was told by someone more aeration to break the water surface. any feedback?
