In stead of quoting the previous post, I'll just reply: This forum is hosted by... oh, that's right, the Federation. I understand that this is a forum, and that different views will always be brought up, but our mods get a lot of crap thrown at them over discussions like this. I am in no way saying that the Federation will stop you posting, but I think out of courtesy you could keep discussions about undercutting our local businesses to a PM system. I understand that it is not magically downloaded, but I was pointing out that HFF is a business with a lot more expenses than you. THEY have extra costs that you don't, and part of the price difference will be to cover these costs. If you are so sure that you can source it cheaper, have you considered discussing this with HFF? It may be that they need to contact their supplier. If they have a specific license as the only local reseller, and the supplier is exporting to others, there may be a big problem there for HFF to address. That, and they should talk to their supplier about better bulk rates if you can get it in cheaper. I understand that you like half price product (who wouldn't?) but encouraging people to bypass the local supplier, regardless of your reasons, IS SCREWING THEM OVER.

The white stuff looks amazing. Someone on here gave me a half bag that I used on my 300L tank. Mine has gone a slightly less white colour due to the plants sucking up some of the aquatic plant mix and it mixed with the white sand to create a brownish white.

I don't think that you realise the bigger picture here. HFF supply us with a lot more than just NLS. We are not saying bow down to HFF and buy it from them, but the Federation is definitely not going to slap them in the face by encouraging people to import stuff themselves. Of course you may be able to import it cheaper. That's a given: You don't have staff, rent, power, GST, etc that goes with running a business. One day you may find something that HFF was stocking for you that you can't just import yourself.

Best bet is to take it out, scrub it down, rinse it in hot water, and stick it back in. Easy.

now now Fishguy, play nice. IMO, he's right, Mac's are all about marketing and very little product. The ONE THING I will give to macs is that they have superior access to editing software. Format is not configure. Format is wipe everything. I would have thought it would have come up with a warning? "This will erase everything on the disk and cannot be undone"? A master copy should never be formatted. I learnt about formatting harddrives when I was intermediate and wiped my Mum's business harddrive clean. Don't worry, you'll learn fast. I believe if you have transferred everything to itunes, then check your itunes. If they still play, you may have them stored on the Mac. If they don't play, and come up with a little x or !, then they are merely shortcuts to your HDD and the files are gone. Best to try a recovery program, but low quality recovery programs could destroy any chance of getting your files back, or may get you partials (some images with big grey squares where people used to be). Best of luck.

+1 Power saving bulbs use less Watts by reducing heat and providing more light. Watts are not a measurement of light.

Lymphocystis Three possible outcomes: 1) It will sort itself out between 6 and 12 months, where the pleco will develop an immunity and the growth will fall off. 2) The growth will grow too quickly and cover the plecos mouth, causing him to starve to death. (Actually uncommon, yuss!) 3) The fight with the growth will lower his immune system and he will suffer from a secondary fatal infection. Hoping for number 1... really, REALLY hoping.

The reds generally need decent lighting, not sure about ferts though

I have always been told not to use table salt. If you must salt the aquarium, pay the extra $3 and get rock salt. I have never actually used the salt though, as I have been warned that my catfish really don't like it
