  1. And that thinking is how they get established.... "oh there's only one" /week later "hey look, there's four now. Good thing they grow slowly" /week later "Where the hell did all these little brats come from!? How am I going to remove 700 damn snails??"
  2. /agree. At least slap her with half the maximum fine. $50,000 would make her think before importing prohibited items.
  3. Yes Graham, that's how I kept my post P.G. We all really know what I meant though...
  4. Are you sure the one you have is BBA and not a type of string algae?
  5. So, there's a horny bull in a corn field? :sml2:
  6. On days when you're feeling a little down, do a search of Ira's posts. :slfg:
  7. I thought it was that it has to be an email address assigned to you, not one you can sign up for. Otherwise spammers would simply make tons of gmail accounts, or hotmail accounts, etc. Accounts like your internet supplier, or school, cannot be signed up for, so these are the emails that are allowed. I think :slfg:
  8. :smot: Sorry. I keep fish as a hobby, I fix computers as a hobby. I would hate to have to worry about what fish I need to order because they sell better than the ones I love. I would hate to have to worry about guarantees on everything I fix or actually charging people for the help they get.
  9. Just goes to show that you shouldn't do what you love for a day job. You quickly find things that ruin it for you.
  10. I decided "screw it" and just added dechlorinator.
  11. That page didn't offer a lot of help: 1. Get better water conditions. We're all working on that. Change to feeding live foods. Not an option for everyone. 2. Add more plants. 3. Get a suitable algae eater, but did not specify which one. 4. Reduce light, but this may not be enough. 5. Take it out yourself with a toothbrush.
  12. So i've been wasting time getting the water in the bucket to the same temp as the tank!?!? :an!gry
  13. Carine have a pot of...*forgot name of grasslike plant* for $11. This could do a 10cm diametre circle. I'm happy to come round and help you plant it, but I'm not sure I follow what you are trying to achieve. You are putting a pot into the tank, why not just plant the grass into substrate? Is there substrate? Substrate will definitely help with keeping these plants alive.
  14. With a 30% change, wouldn't that cause a dangerous temp change?
  15. I have called them, and they have confirmed that they use chlorine. According to the TCC, all I needed to know was that is was within the acceptable and legal levels.
  16. I have always used Nutrifin Plus or Aqua One water conditioner with every water change. How much damage can chloramine do?
  17. I have heard that many people in the Tauranga area don't bother with de-chlorinator, and that many people let the water "sit" before adding it to the tank, as this helps the chlorine evaporate. I have recently filled yet another tank, and added a heater (set to 28ºC). How long would you let it sit before you use it for a water change?
  18. Godo to hear. :smot: Just saw a TSB advert. Two reasons to change from National Bank to TSB: 1. We are not Australian owned. 2. We are not Australian owned. I'm seriously considering it now. :slfg:
  19. Regardless of size, shipping cost would be similar to getting a new tank made.
