  1. Sam, I see where you are coming from with this, but like David mentioned earlier, History plays a big part of it. Alcohol has been legal long enough for the general public to demand it. IF used responsibly, it poses no harm to the user or those around the user. You won't be able to convince them that since POT is better for them, they should switch.
  2. Ah, but we're selling our power companies, and the buyers are going to want to raise profits, so we'll be paying even more. Hold the phone! If we are only paying SOEs atm, why the hell is the cost so high?
  3. I think as long as it's on the offtopic forum (which cannot be seen if you log out ) it's fine.... Anyone seen those "Hungary has cheaper internet than us" adds? I'm waiting for this thread to mention the high NZ dollar, and the dairy industry vs the forestry industry
  4. Regardless of which side you support, calling the other side complete idiots will never go down well. disgustipated, Have you ever worked with people under the influence of pot?
  5. I'm not under that impression. I was merely trying to point out that if someone likes their tomatoless tomato plants, they can get very ugly when trying to give it up. The person I was referring to earlier tried giving it up, as he had become a father and didn't want that in her life, and he couldn't do it. He went 3 months before needing it again. He did well.
  6. Interesting thoughts. In my opinion, the reason that they think that they are better when stoned, is because they are stoned and not thinking straight. These centres have enough trouble getting people off smoking tobacco. Can you imagine trying to get people off THC? I sit on the fence with the whole POT argument. I know people who take it, I have never taken it myself. (Referring to one individual) I have seen that it calms him down, allows him to mallow out and de-stress. Two hours later, after his buzz has worn down, he's panicking again. But I can tell that the drug is still in his system, because he's erratic and clumsy (which he normally isn't). So he will say that he's better stoned, simply because afterwards he is absolutely useless. However, and I feel this is very important, before he lit up, he was lucid, careful, but stressed. There's no point in him being less stressed if his actions are stressing out everyone else.
  7. Doesn't sound good. Who does your water testing? When was your last test?
  8. How about a Gisborne to Whakatane line instead? If the old line is soo stuffed, like they say, then why not build four more? Gisborne is only a dead town because no-one drives through it. If they give Leaderbrand more ways to export from Gisborne, then they may find more people working there, and then maybe more people would visit. So glad I got out of there...
  9. I'll bug the peeps that I know in Aucks to come grab a feed
  10. Hi Mikey, Sorry to sound like a novice but I'm trying to get information to give to this guy. He says he's done his research and that they can live in tanks up to 26º. I told him that I don't think that they would last in water that warm, and that they would be more likely to catch infections and diseases. How do you get it to stabilize at 14º-16º? I have only seen heaters go as low as 20º. Do you simply rely on room temperature? Do you use a chiller in summer?
  11. That's why they put in the plastic alerts in the side of the road. The ones that go tick tick tick tick against your tyres.
  12. Then you're discriminating against the blind (if they happen to be deaf as well). It's a simple case of knowing where you draw the line. We write all our directions, signs, etc in English. Writing them all in three languages would just be messy. /agree.
  13. Hi Mikey, what temp do you have your tank at? One of the guys from work dropped a few Koura into his mates tropical tank (No acclimatising, nothing   &c:ry ) "it went belly up straight away, so we gave it a tap and it was fine". The stream they got them from was "FREEZING" His tank is at 24º. I would have thought this was a no-no?
  14. Is the spot in the same position on both sides? Is it protruding or is it just colour?
  15. Logic? How many cars do you see weaving through traffic? It is a rare occasion to NOT see a motorbike overtake.
  16. I had a mental picture of a Betta in jam jars...
  17. I've already posted my thoughts on the original topic. But as an :smot: I have recently done a trip to Auckland, and I can tell you now that Auckland is paying about 18c extra for petrol than Ngatea and Tauranga. Where do you get your figures from? Motorbikes are much worse than cars.
  18. I have a quarantine tank, 60 x 30 x 30. It has a filter and an airstone. It may just be me :dunno: , but I don't like seeing fish in small confined spaces. And to get in before Fishguy: Those badis are tiny, but I still wouldn't put them in a jar.
  19. Jars are not a hospital tank
  20. Have you read the article on our main site regarding breeding cardinals? http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?p=154
  21. Ottos would be awesome
  22. That should say it could devastate our whitebait not it could devastate our whitebait fishery
