  1. Mine were spawning in a 60L. Only because I had nowhere else to put them (hence the sale).Oh well, hopefully you get some fishy action soon
  2. I sold a breeding pair on trademe earlier in the year and they took all of a week in the new owners tank before they were tending to a new clutch. They're usually not overly bothered about water parameters etc. Maybe e-mail the seller and ask if they were breeding in a specific pH or something? You may have a fussy pair. Mine were breeding in a fairly low pH tank (compaired to my others anyway) about 6.5-7 (just water out the tap with driftwood in the tank). And I kept the temp reasonably high, about 28 degrees. They did seem more prone to spawning if they were left without a waterchange for 3-4 weeks and then I did a 50% one with slightly colder water and higher pH. Hopefully that helps
  3. Those car ones look cool!!! Imagine a massive african cichlid tank made out of the body of a car !drool:
  4. If so, that would explain where all your nitrate is going. Hard to pin point what's going on exactly. Its a shame you've had a hard start to the hobby!
  5. I have this tank at home, it's awesome! Having to sell it though
  6. I always say you can't go wrong with brightwater
  7. Wow that's puuuurdy !drool: How many litres? I want my new AR510 to look like that damnnit
  8. I hope that goldfish wasn't real! I swear it actually fell out of the bowl towards the end Either way not overly impressed with the idea
  9. I almost want some now to have that awesome red in my tank
  10. Wow! Your tank is amazing!! I hope the one we're setting up soon will look that good!
  11. I've had plants in my tank with lead strips holding them down for long periods of time with no ill effects.
  12. I believe the breeder is in the north island but they do transfers to other stores. Fair enough, keep an eye out on trademe, I've seen some on their in the past!
  13. Cute!! I wish my ringneck took proper baths, he just dunks his head in the water, sneezes a few times and thinks he's done  Animates has a breeder and should be able to get one for you - we had some lovely blue ones a few months ago, theý were very cuddly
  14. Dooo eeettt! They're one of the more sought after varieties so would definately help your monster tank fund :nilly:
  15. Yeah I can see what a bad angle it is now you've pointed it out  They look (and are) much more secure in person
  16. Yes I know right - I'd love to! I had twisted val and swords last time but they dug it up/shredded it
  17. My households a little weird. A year old blue Indian Ringneck that chases the cat (I think his next phrase will be "here kitty kitty", a 6 month old cat that thinks shes a dog, and 2 dogs (aged 1 and 2) that are the biggest sooks on the planet (and spoiled rotten too!) Plus all the fish tanks :nilly:
  18. Oh THAT's what the number is  my bad!
  19. :spop: Can't wait to see the photos!~ I heard you had a bit of a disaster in the fish room at work this morning  Poor Laura had to come get our wet vac
  20. Not sure on the dimentions of the tank, its just an Aqua One AR850. Combined I have 2000Lph going through the two filters which is at least 10x the size of the tank  pH sitting at 7.8ish. Update: Picked up 6 electric yellows from work today! They're all a good 5cm long and were breeding in store already so I'm excited to watch them over the next few weeks :happy2: I'm wanting 6 more and I was thinking I might get them from a breeder to add some different blood into the mix - is this a good idea? Or is it bad to mix imported and local stock? Photo update!!
  21. Same! I studied photography at school for 3 years and my photos are still no where NEAR that good!!
  22. Thanks for the tip! Cheers! I'm thrilled to bits with the colour!
