A combination of different types of filtration is best as they can disturb the substrate and cause a lot of floating matter in the water column. An external plus the HOB is good. You will find you have to clear the sponge regularly though as it will clog quickly.

As said, I wouldn't worry at this stage and suspect she is full of eggs.

This happens sometimes. It may retract by itself or it may not. In a larger fish I would suggest trying to catch it and push back the offending bit but not sure if this is possible in a neon!

As said, it could just be full of eggs at the moment. If she does not expel them (nice caviar for the fish) they should get absorbed. If she is otherwise behaving and eating normally I would not worry yet.

My husband says the iphone is a very clever device but as a phone it has problems. If you are in a low signal area you will suffer from drop outs and dropped calls. You might find it will work ok outside but when you go inside the workplace or house then you might have these problems. The iphone has poor sensitivity and so needs a stronger signal for reliable calls compared to most other phones. It doesn't matter if it's on the Telecom, 2 degrees or Vodafone networks, it will have these problems. Because of the aerial design on the iphone, it is affected by the way you hold the phone. Other phones are affected also but to a much smaller degree. He knows this because he gets called to look into call quality problems for one of the cell phone networks. The problem is almost always found to be much worse where the users have iphones. He went to one last week where the business had bought iphones for their staff and could not understand why the only person not having problems was the manager who also had a Nokia flip phone. It never dropped out and that's why he used it when in the office.

Had 2 eldest not-grandchildren with me today. We were baking for my dad's 80th birthday party on the weekend. I am running out of cake tins! Did double lots of peanut brownies, Milo biscuits, ANZAC biscuits, afghan biscuits, shortbread and 2 sultana cakes. Tomorrow we do the rest of the cakes and slices - fudge cake, Louise cake, tea loaf and something else I can't think of offhand. Friday I will do cupcakes, sponges and wok's chocolate cake recipe. The kids also set up and decorated the Christmas tree.

For the moment I will lock it but not remove it. I think it is important people see what has been said and done. To remove it would be burying our heads in the sand. If this turns into a slanging match I will lock and/or remove it. Calm down and stay on topic. Wee2 did what he/she thought needed to be done to save the fish. It was not done to be malicious or cruel. Others may agree or disagree but it was not done without much thought and trying other options.

Not quite son in law and not granddaughter came over and washed the outside of my windows for me while their dog raced around in circles - round lawn - into pond- out of pond - round tree - round lawn - into pond - out of pond - round tree etc etc etc. Needless to say, one patch of lilies is not looking as good as it did in the photo taken a few days ago before a certain border collie/labrador? First time on my bike since injury almost 6 months ago so pleased I can bike again :happy1: Have been carefully washing inside of windows and wiping down a few mould spots on the aluminium frames. You say you have spent a fortune on medication but nowhere have I seen you mention trying to find a vet and ask professional advice. I see why you have done what you did but it is not an option I would attempt myself. One of our members, a nurse, attempted to remove a growth on her fish's nose that was so large it prevented the fish from eating. She researched many vet manuals and talked to a vet before attempting the procedure. She also anaesthetised the fish before starting surgery. Unfortunately, in her case, the fish still died but she suspects it was because she left it too long before taking such drastic action and the fish was not strong enough to cope.

We have not updated it as we are giving time for people to move, re-settle, and get back into it after the quakes. This takes some longer than others

Interesting. I would suspect some sort of debris (but I have no idea what if it isn't food) gets blown there by the filter then grows fluffy as it ages.

She is unwell? Has she got clamped fins or does it just look like that as she was opening and closing them as she swam?
