Hi all. I'm finally getting around to doing a tank thread. At the moment I have about 18 Tropheus Duboisi, 3 Tropheus Moori Moliro and 2 Black Calvus. I'm aiming for a moliro dominant tank so most of the T.dubs will have to find a new home in the near future. The rocks are from a local river and took quite a while to source, but now I have them, they were well worth the wait. The sand is also local and needed a lot of washing to get the plant material out but looks awesome. I hate washing sand! I chucked in a few bunches of narrow leaf java for a bit of colour. I haven't decided if I'm going to get rid of them yet or if I'll get some more. My water parameters are, PH is just over 8 Phosphates are 0 Nitrites are 0 Ammonia is between 0 and 0.25 Nitrates are between 5 and10 The ammonia and nitrates are higher than I'd like, so I've reduced the amount of food and have increased my water changes from 100l once a week to100l twice a week. As our water conditions aren't optimal for lake tangs, I'm adding Seachem Tang buffer and Seachem cichlid lake salt with each water change to try and get conditions closer. But I just can't seem to get the PH any higher. Fitration is an aqua one aquis 1200 which is holding up ok at the moment, but will either get a bigger one or add a second one. Just need to get a new impellor shaft for my spare filter. I also put in a small wave maker to help with water movement. There are 4 x t5 juwel lights in the hood for the lighting. The water conditions are going to be at a level as close to perfect as I can get for a Tropheus set up.

Hi, I'm slowly selling all of my fish stock off as I'm going to change to a Lake Tang set up. What I'd like to know is if it is possible to slowly acclimatise L270s to survive in this set up. I'd rather keep them if I could, but would be prepared to sell them if its too risky. Cheers

Hi, I've just been sent an email of a friends male blue diamond discus and he's a bit concerned as to whats wrong with it. It's the top discus and what is it that is poking out by the anal fin? Any ideas and can it be remedied? Hope this picture come through ok.

Hi, I'm trying to round up a few supplies for all contingencies and am missing a vital ingredient. Metronizadol, I know this is only supplied at the vets. What vet clinic in christchurch would be my best bet to buy some from? And am I best to get it in liquid, powder or tablet form? Alternatively, is there anyone here who has any spare they would be willing to sell me? I'm hoping that I never have to use it, but would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Cool, thats what I was hoping for. They will be in their normal setup, just not planted into substrate. Will probably float them until we sort out our next move. Cheers

Hi, We have to empty our house for the next three weeks or so for eqc repairs which means moving my fully planted discus setup as well :an!gry My question is this, how long would my planted plants survive unplanted as I'm not planning on putting the existing substrate back in for a while. The plants that concern me the most are my swords and twisted val. Cheers

:facepalm: Lol, as if the decision hasn't been hard enough, along comes the windows version. I'll look at it but at this stage it looks like the galaxy will be my pick so far. Still another two weeks till purchase date so my mind may change again

Thats a good point ryan, hadn't thought about the open market viruses. It seems that opinion is going to be divided. I've done a bit of research online as well and it seems its 50/50 worldwide as well. I did find a site that does a drop test to see how they fare(I have six thumbs) and they iphone failed miserably compared to the samsung.
