  1. Id be careful with 3 of them in there, 38 ltrs is it the AR380? If it is, they have a very small footprint, Id be inclined to just get the one DP and 2 oto's
  2. These are like a deep rich crimson with bright red insides/tentacles. I only have one left at the front of the tank, they all retreated to the back side perhaps the flow is better for them there. On the rocks they came with there are some barnacles, quite neat watching the delicate inside fan for particles of food.
  3. They're moving around a lot, changing positions, of course they are all heading towards the back on the rear facing side of the rocks, Murphy had a word to them about his laws while I was out it seems. I guess I'll just leave them and see what happens, not expecting a heck of a lot though as the system is no where near cycled. They are gunna look great with a few types of jewels in there too, there is so much colour with local marine it still amazes me. I cant wait for the tank to be cycled, squilla armata!
  4. Ill bring them down to you till Im all cycled, I only have bbs to feed them no coral food.
  5. While collecting more water today I came across some rocks with anemones attached, into the bucket they went along with the rocks and now they are in a tank. Colour is much much more vibrant then the photo makes out, they are very beautiful.
  6. Daltons propagating mix, $10 for a 20kg bag at the warehouse. It took me 2 to fill my 8ft.
  7. Shes in a tank with 4 other females and the albino male. Their diet is: Mealworms, Whiteworms, Daphnia (all live) and bloodworms (frozen) plus JBL Novabea Water changes are twice weekly, 34 ltr tank with a eheim internal filter rated up to 70 ltr tanks. Shes been raised in this tank from under half an hour old with her brother albino.
  8. trying to work out Yindi's birthdate from this, just gunna call it 29 september, wow its nearly her birthday! Wonder what special treat I can give her, maybe some kind of snail and banana cake lol
  9. Female gave birth to about 20 odd all albino, problem was they were all still born Any reasons as to why this might be? Shes only young still and that was her first birth, so I wonder if that played a part.
  10. I love the sterbai, wish I could get a decent pic of mine they never stop moving. Tanks looks great p44 Nice work, I like it that way, looks like an underwater rainforest. I've heard of pressing plants but using them to press fish is certainly different.
  11. My Euptera is nearly big enough to go in with him, its going to be interesting to see how the act around each other. Even spotted hybrid one doesnt grow nearly as fast, no where near as active either. But your right they are all cool, love the syno's, they always seem to be up to no good, even their breeding is evil lol
  12. This is the best I could do, he doesnt keep still for very long unless its hiding inside a cave. You can see his yellows and blues a bit in this pic. Looks quite different to my featherfin but as you say it might be an age thing Im not to sure.
  13. Nana has taken quite a liking to a certain fish, shes never been interested in them at all really, other then to point out that the tanks are taking over the house. Here's the fish that that she took a shine too, Synodontis schoutedeni or Vermiculated Synodontis shes named Snappa, everything that goes past his cave gets bitten and chased, hes even had a go at me when Ive been messing with plants near his hole. Hes about 14cm nose to tail, eats anything and everything.
  14. Alright well we are coming up on the 28th of this month, hitting the fish stores, so Ill leave it at the closet one to you. Im sure they wont mind holding on to it for a bit.
  15. Love the Lizard line up pic ID! I cant wait till Yindi is old enough to give me some of those, so cute!
  16. you looking for some Sam? Im coming up to auckland in a bit with the BFRC I have heaps, could leave it at HFF for you or something like that, just pass some on when you've grown it out.
  17. PVC piping under the gravel is great, but they will still try their hardest to find the spot you least expect. When I first got iggy my fire eel, he was tiny, could fit through the gaps in an AR380 lid, now hes nearly ready for the 800 ltr with the 40cm+ birchirs under a year later. I feed mine on bloodworms, whiteworms, mealworms, guppy fry and brine shrimp, my zebra spiny is eating ox heart and colourbits too. They steal bolivian ram fry in the most interesting of ways, using their tails as a distraction. The most intelligent fish Ive ever seen by a long shot. Would stick to the half bandeds unless you want a huge eel, although, I could always take on a couple more in the 8ft if they get to big for ya.
  18. sorry p44 you might regret it actually, you do love a planted tank, eelies dig, under plants and rocks are a favourite too.
  19. Happy Birthday P44 and diver21 hope you had a great day
  20. You wont regret it! Nice eel Bikbok, I had to go and say Hi to my lil guys after seeing yours, so cute hehe.
