  1. Thought I should throw up an update as its been a while and there have been many positive comments, thanks everyone! I've been battling algae, winning daily battles but the war is far from over lol, Ive been trying to get it all running without Co2 injection but its very hard to keep the algae at bay. Bumble Bee gobies are doing great, such cute wee things but very camera shy, so are the puffers, I picked another one up yesterday thinking it was a female but as soon as I got it home, belly went yellow and developed a stripe. Little no no aggression between the 2 males though Im watching them very closely. Its Hairgrass, its more trouble then its worth if you ask me lol. Anyway heres a coulple of pics, as you can see Ive removed one pieces of the over hanging driftwood, I think it looks a little clearer.
  2. Sorry they are called clear view. Here I've seen them cheaper in the pet shops so hunt around.
  3. I have seen aqua one hob filters for around $30-35 new, they have proven to be very good IMO. I do add some filter wool though. The ones Im talking about I think are called Aquaclear, they come with the splish splash tanks.
  4. Haha well the weird little wonders are in good hands. I love things out of the ordinary too, cant get over that copper colour. Why cant my guppies do that
  5. Well done Adrienne! Looking at some of these I could almost get another fighter again! Love that colouring on the bottom fish.

    Heating

I've been through so many 300w aquaone heaters I would have easily paid for a jager or 2 by now. Half of the new aquaone heaters I buy I have to take back a few times till I get one thats right too. The 25w - 100w ones I have all been very reliable. I nearly ruined a heater a few days ago, forgot to turn it off during a water change
  8. Yindi is having a big shed today, I let her out this morning for a wonder round, and found some little scaled booties.
  9. Been a bit since I updated. Lost a shark I dont know why, looked healthy was just sitting on the bottom. Cut her up for a look inside to see if it was anything that could harm the other fish, she was full, I mean absolutely full of eggs, otherwise very healthy looking although Im not expert. Had a 4 days whitespot about 2 weeks prior to loosing her, only the Geophagus were effected though, and it soon cleared up with plenty of water changes. Might have also been a cause as I was did a water change on the 4 ft tank the same day and lost a lancelot whiptail too Im winning with the plants, some hygrophilla is growing great and so are the borneo swords. One of the Borneo swords seems to be flowering or something, It might not be a borneo sword either but came in the bunches I got. Here is the plant with the part that looks like it might flower. Sorry for the reflections in the images its a bad time of the day to be trying to get pics in there. The leaves that surround the bud like thing have turned almost white. A Geo, love these guys they look great.
  10. Congratulations on the human fry :bounce: I like the name too, What does Devyn mean?
  11. I would think they would all be on the larger side as far as aquarium fish go, the half banded is said to be the smallest variety as far as spiny eels go, but that still gets around the 15 cm mark. I would think about some kuhli loaches they stay small, have similar habits, easier to feed and you can have a school.
  12. I would try getting some live white worms. Also try feeding them late, like just before the lights go out. They may be looking for food at night and not finding any.

    Hi Everyone

Hello and welcome to the forums, hope you enjoy your time looking around.
  14. If its eating flakes thats good, try slowly getting it on to flakes/pellets/sticks that are a little more predator orientated. The reason most people end up feeding them on blood worms is thats all they can get them to take.
  15. it was a problem in the start up, I recently removed norton and replaced it with the freebie avast. Problem was norton left some files in start up, so everything was waiting for norton to load before it would load anything else. After a hour using the process of elimination the problem was solved, now it works fine
  16. Get some Henward its what I've been looking for, it will look great in such a large tank, then send me some when its all growing well
  17. Yup its not something you can do over night. You need to start collecting guppies with the traits you like and start breeding them. I've been doing a half hearted attempt for nearly a year now and Im only just starting to secure the traits I like.
  18. Tried last known config. Yup vista aint the best, but once its all set up as classic its really not that bad at all. Through the process of elimination I've managed to get it working, disabled all non windows start up apps and its fine, now Im adding them back one by one until I can find whats causing the problems. Possibly malwarebytes :-? Thanks for the help though guys, much appreciated.
  19. I've got HG carpeting in silica sand, but I have aqua basis underneath it. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=46072 Its heaps thicker now, every inch is covered. I should update that at some stage.
