  1. These are L.A's ones I just think they would look even more impressive with another 5 and there's easily enough space for that. Been doing alot of work on the tank in the last week as far as hardscaping and planting pics to come over the next few days. Having alot of hiding places and cover has really changed the tank, all the birchirs and catfish seem a lot happier. I planted about 40 stems in the other day, next morning all floating lol, stems might not be the go in there, swords and crypts with some anubus and java fern on the driftwood, swords and crypts stay planted as does the tiger lotus. Might try some dwarf sag too.
  2. Hahaha yup I love sausage dogs too! ours both had wheels for back legs when they got to the later years in their lives. Discs would slip. My Grandfather made a trolly using the front set of wheels off a shopping cart, it used to cradle their back legs and support the spine. Cybernetic limbs!
  3. Her legs are in correct proportion to her body yes, they are fairly slow creatures though I dont know what they are like in the wild as far as speed is concerned, apparently very easy to catch and photograph though so I dont imagine them being very fast at all. Hahaa Im glad Caryl, my sister asked the same question and I told her Id had Yindi's legs shortened to stop her running away, she doesnt have the same sense of humour as me it seems
  4. A bit like a snake on trainer wheels huh
  5. she LOVES kiwifruit, and is very active this morning. I think I got her out too sooner after a feed as I got peed and pooped on. Going to catch her a few crickets or something today for a treat. Could someone recommended the best NZ brand of cat or dog food? I would imagine that the typical brands such as whiskers are pumped full of other rubbish. Shopping list today is cherry tomatoes, silver beat, broccoli, kiwifruit and banana and I might try some of that jimbo's pet food its supposed to be all natural.
  6. I am! just the smaller reptilian variety.
  7. oh nice! great name then hopefully a sign of things to come!
  8. Yindi Meaning: The sun. Gender: girl Origin: Aboriginal She only knows what I know lol, is there something I've missed?
  9. I nearly needed a crow bar to get Yindi off her, and she called as soon as she got home to suggest names and ask how she was.
  10. New addition to the ever expanding family, Yindi came home with me today and is adored by all. She enjoyed a good meal and stretched her legs, it was great watching her explore everything, tongue darting in and out!
  11. Looking good anyway bro, Will have to check it out, and get a mouthpiece for mine so we can enjoy some erinmoore flake.
  12. My thoughts exactly, If they are fast enough growers Ill stick them in the 4 footer till they are no longer ornate munchies
  13. Im pretty sold on the geos and more sharks now, the sharks look great just the 3 of them 8 would look amazing. Are they fast growers? There are some at one of the lfs for around $10, they are only about 4cm.
  14. Ah the new marine! must have some critters in there by now? :bounce:
  15. Yeah thats him! hes a super fish, greedy sod though, he even quickly steals the colourbits before they can all sink, and still finds room to make sure no guppy fry make it through the night, though hes left the dwarf rainbows alone, just far too quick for him I think. Your welcome to come and visit him Heir
  16. Just as bad? Id say worse, I noticed last week the cable connecting my desktop pc's monitor to the box has been chewed almost all the way through, its fortunate the little blighter didnt get electrocuted, and a miracle the monitor still works.
  17. That does sound good fruju, I've got some twisted val I was thinking of putting in there but its my last bit and barely surviving, Ive never had any luck with val. I've got some nice borneo swords grown out to pop in tomorrow and Ill try some cabomba but I dont like it anymore as it breaks and blocks powerheads, I have alot of another type of fast growing stem not sure on the name Ill try in there too, Im thinking of getting another 5 sharks, and a pair of geo surinamensis (spelling) instead of the pictus school but I love my catfish so its a hard choice, also thinking of some congo tetra. I never liked the bala sharks until recently but Im warming to them quickly. Im very quickly running out of room in my garage as well as my bedroom, going to have to evict poor Nana before too long, her bedroom would make a great fish room with its heatpump already installed.
  18. Hahaha you should see him hunting guppys then, quite a sight. Hes biting my finger there too, although hes got the jaws there doesnt seem to be any teeth lining them, at least not strong enough to pierce my skin.
  19. Thanks Zev, they eat well enough, better then me almost, with their fresh ox heart. That cat is a pain in the rear, hes been threatened on many occasions with a transformation into a new steering wheel cover.
  20. 3x Ornates all 40cm +, female more likely 50cm + 1x dehezi, hes easy for sheezy, named snoop D. O. double geezy, looking for 1 more of these. 3x senegal ones albino Dehezi and senegals are fully grown, about 20cm+ with the exception of the albino whos about 18cm and wont get any bigger. birchirs are easily my favourite fish, specially those ornates they have such characters, Bertie the largest male likes a pat where as if I get to close to the female she bites. I've looked at the lighting today, but my health isnt letting my get the hood off so Ill just have to try my best to explain whats in there. There is 1 3ft fitting for tubes, it can only hold one tube. There is another 4 ft fitting that can hold 2 tubes. The hood makes it difficult to get more lighting in there without a serious overhaul or complete rebuild. Tank Dimensions: 2400x600x620 lxwxh My questions about lighting are: Lets say there is no hood, what would people consider to be above average lighting for a tank this size?. Eg how many tubes of what kinds. There are various different tubes available, what combination of spectrum and colour would work best in a tank with this depth? Because of the depth is metal halide worth thinking about? I know they are broad questions but I dont really know where to start on this, I dont want over kill on the tank but enough to grow out some taller swords, tiger lotus and some larger crypts as well as something smaller on the floor.
  21. haha I like your thinking deepsound, although Im sure Caryl is glad I dont live next door to her, Id always be finding an excuse to head over and check out all those yummy smells coming from the kitchen. I would also weigh 3 times as much as I do now, and I'm already well insulated for the winter as it is.
  22. Hey and welcome, Axy's are neat pets, I had one for about 6 years which would hand feed and come to the surface for a tickle. I also used to buy him feeder fish to keep him entertained, he loved hunting.
  23. The sand will fall through the grid.
