  1. bloodworms as a treat as I once had troubles with constipation on a betta, conclusion was bloodworms are low in fibre. Main diet is bettamin, live daphnia, mozzie larve, white worms, and the odd colourbit.
  2. Wow I had no idea they were like that. I can't even smell them which is odd. The only issues I've had with them is they are low in fibre, so I ended up with a constipated fish, I use them as treats now.
  3. Nice! Apisto's are such great looking fish they look very healthy too. I agree FTS would like to see some of those plants.
  4. the co2 would build up in the bottles too if you restrict it, would make one hell of a pop I bet....hmmm :gigl:
  5. I used to have this problem, I might have got it wrong but the way I see it if there is more light outside the tank then in, you will get a reflection. So by moving a few tanks, so windows were all behind them I lost all reflections. On a tank that had to remain near a window I just boosted the lighting and I get no reflections even on a bright sunny day.
  6. I was a weirder kid an I am as an adult. I used to love my grandfather reading Robbie Burns and Banjo Patterson poems to me before bed :-? 1 normal book I really remember though was The Little Red Caboose, heart warming story about the little caboose that never gives up. I also had wilhelm busch books to grow up with, love the one about little tommy sucker thumb.
  7. I even had cories lay eggs on a pleco (wished so much i had a camera then), they can get them anywhere. I found a big feed at night, and an early morning water change about an hour before the light came on worked very well, 2 spawns a week from a group of 6 no problems. I gave up after my substrate became a pink wriggling mass of albino cories, sold the breeding group and she hasn't been able to get any eggs from them since. :dunno:
  8. You don't need to in making threats anthony
  9. I actually didn't notice him doing his hair in the mornings but he might have gotten up early. I can't be critical though my hair is hardly maintenance free. 8)
  10. aww she so cute, you've done a great job with her Donna.
  11. Planking was later on saturday night, after the spoon had been handed out already of course :slfg: I managed to escape the camera quite well, Nan sure looks like a bundle of joy though :happy1: That was a fun night, and I am glad we managed to get a bit of $$$ for the earthquake fund, well done to Warren!
  12. Yes a VERY BIG thanks to Jim and Fiona, they did such a great job it was really amazing. Thank you to all of you for coming and making something like this possible, I really look forward to future conferences as it was a real pleasure to meet and spend time with all of you. PS: Don't worry Shannon I'm only teasing I enjoyed sharing a table with you and Helen, Ryan was good too when we could get him off his phone
  13. everyone is down at livingarts place now, and soon to arrive here to help haul the 8 foot tank out and down to the village. I have brought out 2 of my albino creations from hiding to show off as well !drool:

Love how all your gear is kept all neat and tidy, such clean design. Looking great Buzzy I can't wait for future updates.
  16. Well I was planning taking anyone interested out on a fishing trip to mayor island. But I have been so super busy later I have not had a chance to organise anything. But your welcome to come and have a jack at my 2 remaining community tanks, as well as the guppy breeders. There isn't much to look at anymore my bad back pretty much stripped me of all the goodies I had. If you can handle the bogan way of life it will be a pleasure to hang out though P44, it will be a pleasure to meet you finally, that goes for all of you!
  17. Bad pictures, but I chucked 2 of my boys together to get a couple of shots for ya. Largest one is my old strain, with 4 of my albino females he produces nearly full orange bodied high fin albino's, beautiful little fish once developed. Smaller male is a new strain I'm working on, yellow bodied, blue/green fins. I love how albino change colour depending on the lighting and angle.

    Hardscape Help!

It looks really good! I would try to shift the focal point slightly off centre, but it does look great so I would be careful not to mess that up. You could always use a stunning plant as the focal point though. Are you going for high lighting and Co2? If that is the case I would increase the amount of gravel you have in there, probably get something like aqua basis plus for underneath too saves having to muck around with root ferts so much.
  19. go the cardinals P44 who needs jeans when you have nice fish tanks to stay home and watch, boxer shorts are more adequate for that.
  20. I just used a cheap outdoor solar garden light to provide moonlight to my 2.4m, gave off enough blue light to keep the tank just lit enough to stop the ornates having so much success at night hunting. And cost next to nothing. I just picked up one of the cheap one from the warehouse, opened it up extended the wires from the solar panel and battery pack and mounted the led into the hood. Only lasted about 3 months before it died but for about $7 I couldn't complain.
  21. Those worms aren't found in NZ pork anyway, Asian and American pork is full of them.
