    Glass Question

its not worth putting toughned glass near it. toughned glass is stronger, like saftey glass BUT if it breaks it will shatter like a windscrean while if normal glass breaks its more of a crack
  7. under gravel would be the way to go, the only 'ugly bit' about it is that theres a clear tube that sticks out of the gravel. you might be able to get away with trimming a square one if you cant find a round one. or you could use something like this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 201502.htm not too expensive, easy to clean. can yopu take a photo of the bowl? seems big from your description
  8. Palmers on Gt north road across from waikumete cemetery had it. i think it was the aquatic mix i got from there, not the sand.
  9. Happy birthday P44 at least your turning 23 today not 24 like me
  10. or how about using a plastic storage bin from the wharehouse or similar, pending size and space available. will just need to be careful with the heater.
  11. the size i said was from me just measuring the hole in the tank that was made for that fitting. has 2-3 mm play and fits nicely. and the hanson fittings come with seals so do you still need to silicone them?
  12. 25mm fitting requires approx 35mm hole
  13. whats it mean if the spines bent? not meaning to hijack but i have a tetra that is rather fat with a bent spine, more like its stuck to swimming in circles bent
  14. jeez ryan you got a few people offering tank space dont you?
  15. i hope youve seperated them now. i had a similar thing where i had a PK that killed a few of my VT's before i relised that she was really a he. he ended up being the only fish i have ever named... 'fafa'
  16. good luck with the wee guys, have heard they require a bit more work than the normal sizes with regards to waterchanges and feedings. and im guessing that you crossed the giant with a normal size? if so should give half giants, still big just not as large. looking forward to the photos in the next few weeks
  17. i would add more cardinals and another pair or 4 electric blues
  18. lol went running to trademe thinking that they where the albino sort. got me all excited! but theyre the black eyed ones
  19. ive found that daltons aquatic mix to work really well, will be using it again for my next planted tank
  20. is it a good idea using water from the parents tank as its not completly clean
  21. that would be the best for your replacement powerboard. i had a similar thing happen to be but we noticed it by the weird 'vibrating' sound the plug was making as it was sparking. didnt get that bad though, mine was caused by a bit of water getting into the plug. make shure all your cords have drip loops and the multi board isnt on the ground or mounded somewhere that you can splash water onto it during a waterchange if it isnt already.
