  1. love the product placement of the FNZAS forum displayed on your laptop
  2. i thought the minimum wage didnt apply to kids so that work places could pay a crapper lower wage for kids
  3. im gonna try the heat the room method for the tanks, with heaters in the more delicate fish tanks. now how big of a heater do i need? and what kind? would a 1kW oil fin heater do?

    cheap poly

what sort of garage door have you got, like roller or tilter? i saw johanneses garage door was a roller and was surprised that it was insulated with poly.

    bring out the door snake!
  6. have you seen this page? http://www.sandiegotropicalfish.com/eBu ... 7_July.htm very good page about building this sort of thing. in there it recommends only having 2-3 2foot tanks between each upright
  7. ild just put 2 uprights in the middle so the shelves have 2 tanks between each upright
  8. sounds more like 2 girls are having a go.
  9. no stand included in the auction. just a bare tank
  10. its low at the moment to make it harder for the tetras to jump out as i havnt gotten around to cutting a new lid and no rainbow fish, its overstocked as it is, especially since massey pets closed down and david kept putting rams in my bag when i was there. stocking is: 2blushing angels 1peru altium 4 albino angels 6conchu blue tetras (from massey pets) 6? glowlights 6? albino black neon 6 golden tiger barbs 6 e.blue rams (thanks david) 3 black widow tetras 5-7 bristlenoses in there too. will be attempting to breed some of the tetras/ barbs soon, thats why theres so many varieties in there fattning up
  11. so a few monts later this is how it looks i think it looks quite well, just wat a few more strands of balansae up the back just having issues with the java fern ATM as it looks like its suffering from melt from me not fertalising it.

    cheap poly

dosent melt poly. havnt done it to the coreflute but i highly doubt that it will melt the coreflute. just use the non acid curing type just to be sure. you will need to insulate the roof as thats where about 42% of heatloss will be, about 10-15% from the sides

    cheap poly

what if you use silicone to stick it on, not a full on silicone attack but just 1-2 lines per sheet of poly, and its easy enough to remove without damaging the coreflute when you need to move
  15. instead of microworms i would go for grindal worms as theyre bigger so adult guppies can be fed them also, and they like the warmer temps more than the white worms
  16. those 2ft tanks are on seperate steel stands. i could line the walls with poly but would moisture sit between the poly and the wall and start to rot or become a mold factory? atleast with the walls bare i can see the rot and mold. was thinking for the main window just putting a solid chunk of poly that fits the window frame and putting it up at night. should explain that there are two sets of windows in this room. the main one is shown and the smaller high window runs parallel to the main window in the center of the room
  17. very. but plus side is my employer should be paying for my next move, and all my outher belongings get packed by the movers so it will give me a bit of time to sort fish things out during the move. so the first stage of the fish room is: cut the 3tall stands down so theres a shorter distance between the floor and the bottom tank source a oil fin heater source a dehumidifier clean the mold from the high ceilings caused by the humid air poly up the top window what is everyone opinions about heating the room vs heating the tanks in an un insulated room?
  18. whats the dimentions of it? as if its a cube it will be a bit harder to divide. something long and skinny would be better to divide up for something like guppies etc. and the other thought would be heating the divided tank
  19. if its what im thinking yes, just silicone a strip of tile or glass across the corner/ middle of your tank and fill that corner/half with water. aslong as its sealed it will be fine
  20. rightio. this is what I currently have: as you can see the room is 3500x2700. two doors and a window. tanks available are 2 steel stands that hold the 1meter tanks 3 tanks high, and 3 stands that hold 2 2ft tanks each (total of 6 tanks) i have about 4 other 2ft sized tanks and about 10 1m tanks outside getting overgrown with grass. and all 1m tanks are drilled for overflows. this is the steel stands the thought did occur to me that the wardrobe could be turned to a warm cupboard to house male fighters. I guess by posting all this up here it might give me some motivation to finally do something to this room and get fish coming out instead of just going in. ALL comments questions and query's and suggestions need to be voiced as i may of missed something. PS house is a rental so cant bolt shelving everywhere and everything needs to be able to be taken back out (one of the reasons i didn't buy cichlid_fan's huge tank as i wont fit through the door)
  21. any relation to the tank of doom on trademe (in the "cool auctions")
  22. The PK's i got from her arnt that angry though
  23. hollywoods would be a good place to start asking. but you can allways try beed yourself towards them, picking the more agressive of the youngsters to breed.
