im getting some from a trout fisherman soon apparently low tide in the weed and muck in the kaiapoi river use a large net and stir up the weed
upstream of ur net
poly is still recommende i guess i just used a really thin pice that was alredy under the tank when i brought it its not really poly but some thin sheet like poly plastic stuff the ply isnt there to hold the wieght of the tank but even out ane undulations in the surface u put the tank on but i dont think it would matter too much aneway as it dosent sit on the glass onlky the plastic rim and yeah like some1 said the glass is pretty thick . 1 think i can recommend to do before u set it up is top seal around the inside of the top plastic capping as its not sealed that well and condensation tends to leak down the side of the tank or front of the tank leaving the nasty scale stuff thats hard to get off
my g/f threatens my fish with dishwash liquid though i dont think she would be able to go thru with it as she loves animals but i dont care to find out either!
i recommend those big octagonal 1s as they are strong and safe for adults(why let ur kids have al the fun!) they have decent mats so the springs arent really a problem . my mate had two old tramps missings springs 1 on each side of the fence used to flip over the fence until 1 lunch time after a few beers he did a flip and a half put his head thru the mat no injuries tho
my father lives at barrytown its a good beach to collect greestone also a bit further past puni there is fox river they have markets there from time to time some of the baches there are on the monteiths ad on tv its a nice place to pick up stones there is also a rock i have found only there its kind of like that omaru stone soft and easily carvable (probably more so than omaru stone) but it comes in white pink and black and mixtures!!!! ask some of the locals or go to the all nations hotel ask for rusty he will show u some
but the chinese also see it necessary to put di ethylene glycol into toothpaste! seriously tho calcium sulphate is PH neutral hence its quickly taking over lime(alkaline) for use in lawns and gardens i would have thort it would crumble in water like sum1 said u dont get ur plaster cast wet do u and like alan said it could make ur water hard (though not like like concrete could) the other thing is u have to paint it with something if ur guna try it paint with an epoxy paint that way ur making sure
i have the euroveiw 90 with the proper stand the top is completely flat , i can see what u r talking about as the tank dosent sit on the glass but rather the plastic rim around the bottom , my goldfish tank is also like this and it over laps at the front and back of the stand i am using no problems last two years
check wat voltage u are using 2 power the leds will prolly be 12v thats all gud next time u are dse they have a small perpex board with different type of leds showing size and brightness select a really bright 1 and go home and try it out u wont be paying more than $1.20 per LED they are cheap as if u then find they are too bright solder in a resistor inline before the power supply or solder the leds into two series circuts rather tahn 1 big paralell. u could add more leds if its still not bright enuff here is a link to my tank with leds it has ten although the background actually blocks half of the lite its still pretty brite the photo is taken in a dark room at nite , its the bottom photo on my post
http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/9-vt30887.html?start=120
pull it to bits and replace the leds with super brite 1s u can get some pretty powerful 1s i have 10 on my 30l it works fine just the rite amont dse have pre soldered packs of ten for around ten bucks they have bout 4 inches of wire already attached
it mite be ok ring whoeva makes it and ask as long as its not solvent based (solvent based wont paint over poly without melting it) if its for a pond it should be safe for an aquarium but check it out with the makers as for strength if its just normal community fish a couple of coats would do it if its for bigger fish paint it then sprinkle sand on the wet paint then paint over it again a few times this makes it stronger if its for turtles or beardies use epoxy
what about heating or would it be mountain minnows? cool zone in northlands has really cool led lites tht would clip on th back of a small tank u could also go undergravel with a really tiny 12v powerhead i have 1 that may suit it then use a transformer like u are using for your led lites on ur community its a really good idea tho
the problem with student acrylic is its waterbased so while it may be non toxic it will dissolve unless its embeeded in epoxy NB some colours will not work in solvent based epoxies as the pigment prevents it from setting
as for the concrete it will effect the PH of the water for some time unless its completely sealed i just see it as un nessary weight and hassle depending on wat u are doing for example u could justify its use in a large public display where ppl would be touching it or if the concrete actually formed part of the tank itself
i had a small exo terra tank which i put baby frogs into and had a few mountain minnow fry in the water part quite course gravel aneway the frogs all died and i thort i had got all the mountain minnow out but a few months later i found some behind the background sitinng in 1cm of water a bit bigger than wat i had last seen them
yep it will be brackish shortly just cycling it gobies are in fresh water atm will get tank sorted and slowly adjust them to brackish thinking bout getiing a figure8 but the tank mite be a bit small but hey check this out 4 diy and filter , the tank has diy 10 LED lighting!
the fluidised bed filter i got off ebay cost bout 30 bucks to get it here works mean as
ahh yes the illusions of warmth many a time i went down to the beach from arnotts heights in grey where i used to live thinking i could swim , 1 look at those mountains in your photos confirmed the reality ...way to cold!!!!!!!!!!
i brought a really tiny 50w heater at organism its a elite it has no temp marks just a dial from - to + but its tiny s thats all i wanted also fully submersible
the car over the water at petertalleys car museum lol do u know how much trouble that display caused them the pond used to get covered in algae all the time so they put half a ton of salt in there now the car on the water rusts heaps they put up with it 4 the display though nice photos i was in nelson at the time didnt have time to make it to the conference but did a lot of the same stuff as u guys and found three pets shops so i was happy
