    clown loaches

just an update the clown loach didnt like furnace at all made him look really sick i put him back in the community tank , ended up buying something called tonic and treated the whole 200l tank with that 3 times( coz i couldnt catch the bugger and the other 1 had become sick 2) but now im happy to report both have made a full recovery and have stopped fighting , 1 the 1st 1 still has scars to remind him of the battle

  8. i have a biolux tube it really brings out the colours
  9. some cats can also suffer from anxiety tho its mainly really old cats that do this u could try rescue remedy
  10. cream will float on top butter is cream beat way past the whipped cream stage and usually with salt added, cheese can be mik or cream or both which is curdled with rennet which im not sure but i think it is calfs stomach acid, the whey (liquid) is normally discarded and they curds (solids) are pressed into a mold and allowed to set variuous cultures can be added to make different types of cheese with different flavours i think u can get home cheese making kits somewhwere
  11. yea cuttlefish ground up would be excellent 1 of the lfs down here that has a bad reputation actually gave me the gud adive on this i used to buy calcium blocks for the goldfish frogs and axies to keep the water hard how they like it , they told me cuttle fish for birds is cheaper and lasts longer u could put it in a tea towel and bash it with a hammer to crush it
  12. calcium carbonate is limestone pretty much it will raise hardness in ur water also provide calcium 4 beardies in small amounts it is however alkaline, another 1 to research would be calcium sulphate which is gypsum its nuetral ph but otherwise does the same in the garden and aquarium as lime, im just guessing here but the other parts would be valuble minerals, carboinate, sulphate . just bear in mind u will need to do more research and particulary to how much is safe/benefical as it would only be tiny amounts needd
  13. is it just me or are all multi boards getting harder to make the plug have a snug fit in?
  14. i used river sand from oderings its a bit of a pain to rinse out but looks good, its a range from fine particles to 1-2mm (fine) gravel so should be fine 4 plants also
  15. lol mine too, they dont understand MTS!!
  16. they are so cool pity they are so expensive
  17. yep its ok you can buy it as a pool chemical but its in flakes that need to be crushed i dont dust i just keep the water hard with it as they absorb nutrients through their skin while in the water aneway(ps im talking about frogs here)
  18. if they are well fed they will survive the winter they will probably hibernate so plants all around the pond would be a good idea
  19. i dont measure it but try 1 tsp of yeast and 1 tsp of baking soda(stabiliser) fill the sugar and water up as normal . mines been running a month on 1 mixture, still bubbling good , i gave up buying the proper stuff ages ago. smells like vodka when its done
  20. yes straight out of the tap no problems
  21. i got a python its great our taps are old skool so i connect to an outside tap rather than a sink the to fill up i take the tap fitting off and jam one of the those plastic shower hose thingeys intop it and connect it to both hot and cold taps adjust the temperature and watch it fill up in a few mins , no buckets!!
  22. i didnt know u could get those! i was talking about doiin it the old skool way using a clip-on ammeter and using power = voltage xcurrent converting it into Kwh and x the cost per unit, so these gadgets work out the Kwh or the rough amount in money that the appliances use?
  23. daqnish oil also tends to react with ane moisture in the wood and come up a milky colour, u could stain the wood first then epoxy coat it
  24. thats not including gst is it? meridian is cheapest here in CHCH if ur flatmates complain , work out and tell them how much their 2kw fan and oilcolumn heaters (without thermostats) are using i think they will be shocked also in flats ovens use up to 8kw so if all up u are doin a lot of cooking that wont help. As for power meter if u buy the cheap multimeter type from tthe warehouse u will need to make a mini extension cord up and cut some insulation off the flexx as the clamp type meter will only work when when u are clamping 1 conductor clamping both cancels it out
  25. this weather we have been having may have something to do with it daffodils have sprouted in our garden a few weeks back
