Huh, I'm not exactly an expert but that doesn't look like I'd expect a burn from a light to look. I'd expect more of a specific area than all over like that. Like just front rather than also down towards the back. Almost more hot water or chemical burn.
Looks pretty similar to mine. Get a roll of mylar reflective film or similar and some spray adhesive, glue the film to the hood and it makes a reasonable reflector.
Just did a google image search on the paradise.net site address I used to use for pics, these pics were some of the results so I had a look and thought...
That was 8 years ago? Man, I am :sage:
They do look a bit lighter and a little different pattern than my bristlenoses at that size. All were a bit darker with solid colored tails and little white tips on the top of them.
I'm pretty sure of the thousand or so fish that I've sold that I probably made a loss of at least a buck or two each.
This is why I hate pearl gouramis and bristlenoses.
You're going to want more than a single tube for growing plants, you might get really low light plants to survive but they won't grow well. It doesn't really matter what tube you use.
Looks like the Slimline T5s you said you're looking at are 28 watts for the 1200mm long ones. I'm guessing that's the length you have? You'll probably want 3-4 more to get into a low-moderate amount of light.
I just had a look, the biggest slimline T5 on trademe at the moment looks like a single one, 15 watts. You'd want like 7-8 total of those tiny ones.
Wet pets used to have one when they had their big tank. I don't know the exact dimensions of the tank but it was something like 8 feetX8 feetX2 feet tall. There were a couple threads here about it.
Well, they're certainly not an LDA 72. Other than the shape and bristles they look nothing alike.
Also the extremely strong resemblence to the common mixed breed mutt normally sold as a bristlenose here.
Many things you need to do. In order: Open the hood, remove any lids on the tank, grab the pot, lift it above the tank height, move it over the tank, lower into the water. Release when in final position.
Done. :slfg:
Yup, I used it in my SA cichlid tank. Works fine, but I might suggest going up to one grade less fine. Hard to tell exactly how fine that is from the pic though. I tried the finest Animates had and it tended to make its way out of the bag and through the filter. Not really a problem, just annoying.
