  2. I have a solution to your problem Buy another tank for the smaller fish
  3. :rotf:  Sophia! I see your behavior hasn't improved since the AFA meeting
  4. no, he will not have built a nest in there.
  5. put the whole link in including the img part. When you click on it it should copy the whole thing automatically and then you just paste it. Don't give up.
  6. not sure why you can not post as I just copied and pasted the link and the picture above popped on. Are you clicking the correct link.
  7. remove the male when the fry are free swimming - 3 to 5 days. The male will mouth the eggs until they hatch keeping them free of fungus. He will then fuss around collecting fry that have fallen out of the nest and putting them back until they are old enough to swim horizontally most of the time. After this time he will either continue to care for them, or eat them depending on how hungry he is and what his nature is like.
  8. maybe they were not fertile. If so, nothing is going to help.
  9. I use salt with clown loaches, king tiger plec, sterbais, bn and no issues but I have never done a salt dip. I use it in the main tank.

    My new plec

What do you think - (lots of pics) - apart from the fact that some are a bit blurry
  11. With the aid of a torch I saw the eggs. The male is busy fanning them. I was surprised by how big they were. I expected them to be smaller. :nfs:

Your bike's nearly 10x larger than my current little scooter. I prefer the old reliable CX500 to go around on, when it is on the road. Hubby is looking at picking up the BMW800 sports (I think) bike while we are in Europe next year, touring with it and then bringing it back to NZ when we return. He currently has a red Cagiver. You may know my son, Squiggles, who has been fairly active on KB - took part in the ride to Wellington and was part of the group that went in to the office of the MP about ACC levies. He also is a BRONZE member. Whetu who has not postedon here for a year at least, is KB 'Klingon'. She's part of the Scarey Bikers Sewing Circle. Anyway welcome, once again, to the world of fish keeping.

I'm on kiwibiker also as is my husband, my son and his partner. Welcome!
  14. Its 1.2metres long and as wide as my back seat and I am not allowed to say the word so I will say very heavy. The place typical of an auckland house with a fish enthusiast inside, on the side of a hill with dreadful access. My husband reckons all fishkeepers pretty much, live on the side of a hill down a long drive with multiple houses. lol
  15. Judging by the other listings I would say Henderson.
  16. yes, the one I got from the shop is definitely v. tortifolia and I have had that for less than two weeks. In this time it has grown significantly and has twisted all the way up. This is what my previous lot of val was like before I melted it all. The other val I have had for 4-5 months and it has hardly grown and is more wrinkled looking than twisted. However they are in two very different areas of the tank - the twisty stuff is at the back pretty much directly under light and in the flow of the filter outlet. The other stuff is at the far end of the tank sheltered from most water movement and with no direct light over the top. Perhaps I should move this next door to the other plants and see.
  17. yep - the last time I purchased something off tm from auckland city it took me 40mins to get there and 90 mins to get home again, and I am literally in the centre of auckland. Now I ask for the street name before I buy. Even somewhere 'just off the motorway"' can be 10km off the motorway depending on how desperate they are to sell it.
  18. I asked if it would fit in my car! I am not that silly to think that he is getting an ember tetra or something of similar size. I should probably have asked if it was dead, alive or stuffed as well. :sml1:
  19. sorry - thats me out then. Waitakere is not auckland city.
