  1. I have no advice for you, but hope he makes a full recovery!
  2. Well people will assume! I think Cody is a great name for a female cat. I like names that are different, not your usual Fluffy or Smokey etc.
  3. http://www.loaches.com/species-index/pangio-kuhlii Not recommended for a new tank set up, they grow to about 10-11 cm and best kept in groups. Sandy substrate is probably a must as they like to burrow in to the sand. I've seen minimum tank size recommended at 37 litres.
  4. I am so living in the wrong place.. soo many plants!
  5. I love the tail pic too!! Shes cute. Whats her name? She looks a little like my Willow
  6. How do you train a dog to fetch a ball without chewing it? Jayde brings the ball back straight away. She just chews it while she's running back to me.
  7. It doesn't get rolled in sand, but often picks up grit and soil. Poor Jaydee is not going to be happy when I tell her no fetch until I can find these smooth rubber balls!
  8. They did have 2 Polka Dot Loaches last time I was in which was last Thursday.. they sort of look similar to a Yoyo..
  9. Actually most email programs have the option available to receive a read receipt, which notifies you of when the email is read. Although sometimes the recipient is given the option of whether to return the read reciept or not so doesn't always work.
  10. Not necessarily more, but what I do when I feed bloodworm is melt the block first, then to get it further down to the bottom I suck up bits in a dropper thing I got from the chemist then stick it into the water and squirt it down. Something like that might help.
  11. Usually ZM. I have no option but to listen to More FM at work. Because it goes through our phone system and is our hold music, you can't have anything offensive. I mostly listen to CDs/MP3s though.
  12. White chip. Sounds sharp, is it? Loaches require fine sand or rounded gravel because of their sensitive barbels around their mouth.
  13. Yeah sand would be the best but I have that small rounded gravel in my tank and my Yoyo's seem to be able to dig around it in without too much problem.
  14. It doesn't even work for me. I click on the link and its like I'm just clicking Refresh on the page. :-?
  15. You could do that but I would personally would get another golden zebra, they would probably prefer their own species. Just to clarify, we are talking about botia histronica (Golden Zebra) and botia striata (Zebra)? I have my striata with almorhae (Yoyo loach) and they get along just fine. But I have 6 zebra, and only 2 yoyo, wanting to get more though but they are a bit hard to come by down this way. Substrate sounds fine, I have the small rounded gravel too and no problems. Mine like the shrimp pellets too. Do you have any blood worm? Try some of that.
  16. Going up and down the side would suggest they are doing the "Loachy Dance". This is apparently normal for newly introduced fish. They can also do it when you make changes to the tank, like move ornaments or plants around. What sort of substrate do you have? It is recommended that it should be a fine or rounded gravel or sand because they enjoy sifting through the substrate and it may hurt their sensitive barbels if it is too sharp. I don't have experience with the Golden Zebra but I believe they should eat snails. As for them not feeding this could just be because they are new. What are you feeding?
  17. There was another PeneJane? I think. I remember her from when I first signed up but I have not seen her post for a very long time.
  18. Loaches Online suggests: "Considering its relatively diminutive size, this is a very feisty loach species, which is not suitable for community aquariums. Must be maintained in groups of 5 or more in order to spread any aggression and to allow the fish to form a natural hierarchy. "
  19. I remember when I was very young, we inherited 2 goldfish in a bowl (!!) from cousins who were moving away to Nelson and I guess they couldn't take the fish on the long trip up there so we took them. Pretty sure they didn't last long, replacements were bought. I think my mum eventually stopped buying new fish after a while. I think around my 13-14th birthday I decided I wanted a goldfish again. Ended up getting a small glass tank, but still had limited success in actually keeping them alive (I'm guessing the 100% weekly water changes didn't help a lot). Eventually gave up but then back in 2003 hubby gifted me a small tropical tank. Upgraded to current tank a few years later and having more success thanks to the knowledge I've acquired from this forum.
  20. Yeah I'm a bit of a sceptic too. Especially when it comes to alleged photographic evidence of things like orbs, because they can be so easily manipulated. My husband proved to me a few years ago just how easy it was to make orb and ghost photos. I haven't seen anything myself, but my workmate has some pretty convincing stories of events that can't be explained. Weird things that have happened too often to put down as a coincidence. Despite whether I'm a believer or not, I still find the subject extremely fascinating.
  21. Awww they are super cute! And no I do not want one! Well I do, but I don't. hahaha I have two dogs already, they are a father-daughter team and both handfuls on their own so we have more than enough to keep us busy. I hope you manage to find good homes for them all.
