I think the suggestion was that bad service should be dealt with at the source - by speaking to the Manager, sending an email or letter, and that it would be good if we did the same thing when we receive excellent service. But if we did post about good service then we would increase the custom for that shop and decrease the custom for the others. It's like raising kids - ignore the good behaviour and praise the behaviour you want

Beautiful photos and I see you got one of 'Hamish the Herring' at Mapua!!!!!! We were there one day and took photos of him. A very excited young man said to us "He's a Herring! We thought he was a Pelican or something but he's a Herring. Did you know he was a Herring?" :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: I said something along the lines of "Well, he's definitely a Heron" but he has lived on in our minds as the Herring :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: Sounds like you all had a great time and the photos are really lovely

I only use it if I can smell chlorine in the water - and that hardly even happens. I use water straight from the tap and if I can smell chlorine I tip in some dechlorinator. I haven't had any fish losses that I could put down to that. Jude

I can see the difference in the garage - after hours of studying the pictures I noticed that you can see 3 bits of the back wall, instead of 1. And there is one less box on top of the red metal toolbox thingy. Well done! I can see how it would have taken two or three weekends. We felt it too and my son was in Paraparaumu and he felt it. I'm glad it wasn't any closer to us because it sure felt strong.

I've just bought a robocan because we are already having problems with flies. It's a synthetic pyrethran and it says it is toxic to aquatic organisms. Does anyone else have one in the same room as a tank and have there been any problems?

Yes, I love the Tiger Barbs. They are always active and are a pretty fish. Plus they aren't terribly expensive. I'd prefer real plants because they would reduce the maintenance by gobbling up some of the "manure" at the bottom of the tank. Use tough plants like anubias, crypts, java fern and swords because the barbs will munch through the tender plants. Barbs like to chase each other through and around things so driftwood and plants would add to the interest Cheers Jude
