  1. I my experience the circling is often between two females and is usually broken up by the male, i have even seen other species males come and break them up........
  2. Why does fish food cost so much? Is it really that difficult to make? Over the time I have been keeping fish (about 5 years) it seems to have increased by about $10.... Does anyone have good alternatives?
  3. There is the Avon Bonsai Society in chch....great people and very helpful.... Also the VANZ nursery in Burnside, run by Bev and Alan Vanz. Their number is in the phone book.

    cheap poly

screws with large washers worked very well for mine and then i put tape over these as well to make sure the poly was completely sealed. The person who advised me, recommended wrapping the poly with polythene on both sides like a parcel so that it was completely sealed. It works really well and was easy to handle....I just didnt make the insulated space big enough. It usually maintains a 20 - 23 degree temp most of the winter and often goes up to 30+ over summer...

    Tank bracing

I have a 300lt which doesnt have a middle cross bracing on the top. I saw on the buy and exchange threads, a tank with two metal clips with rods used for this bracing. Can anyone tell me whether the clips are siliconed to the glass? and any negatives in using the metal instead of glass......?

    Baby discus

a friend has been given quite a few baby discus (2 - 3 cm). Before moving them they were under the internal filter and on their sides, black in colour!! Since moving they (1 week ) they remain on their sides, black and breathing fast. The larger fish from the same batch (5 cm) are fine. Anyone have any suggestions?
  14. I'm moving 4 tanks (sizes and fish types are below)
