  1. I can't see the picture
  2. I use the garden hose for refilling. For syphoning, I got a pool vacuum cleaner hose, I have one end in the garden and I tie the other to the back of a chair - then I use the ordinary syphon/vacuum thingie and syphon directly into the big hose. So far I haven't had any fish end up in the garden!
  3. they make pellets out of axolotls?
  4. I suspect if the ice was a foot thick, it was the lesser of two evils. The ice would have continued to thicken and probably swallowed up the fish Ooops - I read it wrong. It was the concrete which was a foot thick - just ignore me everyone
  5. Well done Mr and Mrs Loopy. If, as fishkeepers, we act responsibly like you have done, perhaps MAF will see us as partners rather than the enemy in the fight to keep NZ bio-secure! And, seeing they are a govt dept and run by rules and regulations - perhaps not!
  6. I always cut them off once the roots have grown so I'd say cut it off.
  7. Large BBQ tongs for moving things around in a deep tank. What I would like to see developed is an 'arm length' extender for me     A leg length extender would be handy too. And maybe a width reducer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I always like salad with fish
  9. I just remembered - there was the time when I left the hose running into the tank and it flipped around and started hosing down the ceiling. I ended up doing a 'doorway dance' as I tried to decide whether to run for the tap or run for the hose. Luckily for me Ballistic and Mystic arrived just in time to help with the mopping up and they didn't laugh too much. It was also on the kitchen floor, not the carpet, so my floor, walls and ceiling got a bonus wash.
  10. I am trying very hard not to laugh because it hasn't happened to me YET!

  12. Are the polishing pads extras that can be purchased separately or are they an integral part of the filter?
  13. Green water or not, its looking very attractive. Now all you have to do is to find some time to blob out and enjoy it :
